Seeing as the Mini name is probably the most retro word in the book I didn't want to brand it, 'off topic.' ;D Is it me or do the majority of new Mini owners copy each other to make their rides erm, individual? Cooper stripes, fog lights, tints, big wheels, union jack roof decal and some clever saying in the back window. I mean, have you ever seen a Euro look example? Or a matt black bad boy on red steels?! I think they need an education on thinking outside the box...such as: www.retro-rides.com/articles/thinkdifferent.html If anybody has some examples of unique Minis, post away please! Because I'm yet to see one!

If you ask me, this was possibly never even in the box. It's so far outside the box that the tax you'd pay on the fuel to get back there would pay for another box...made of gold. Mission accomplished - well done speedman!

Imagine doing something roughly like this, albeit it without the graphics... Wrap around bucket seats and a blower sticking out of the bonnet, like the matt black drag Firenza (?) as seen on here!

Good finds Speedman, the Alpine demo car is defo outside the box! But at the same time, it is a bit of a Max Power mutant?

i don't think you cna count show cars as anything to do with the box - it should be daily drivers that we're asking about! you can show any sort of unique cars - who has heard/seen the yellow roofless '01 impreza? - but in real life they're all blue and gold. or blue and white. or red and gold. or blue and gold. etc

Manufacturers often write different names on development models to fool the public. When Ford where developing the new Focus ST I saw one on the M25, matt black five door, but with twin pipes, suspension, what we now know to be production wheels and loads of telemetry on board... Clocked it and started taking pictures, on the door and boot was written 'Leon'... As they were often referred to looking like the Seat.
Back on topic, as far as Mini's go... Give it a few years and you'll see some cool stuff when they're more affordable, and the people with less money but more imagination can buy them.
I don't dislike them, and have had some of my most memorable drives in them. They just don't ignite me at all...

I agree, I think a lot of the mods are formulaic off-the-shelf jobs because anything done outside a BMW MINI dealership would void the warranty. As soon as they get a bit older we'll start seeing some more inventive mods. I'm not a fan of the MINI. Dynamically you can't really fault it, but due to the amount of tw@ts that own them , you might as well have W4NKER tattoed on your forehead. Unfortunately. Creatively modded BMW MINIs? Bring 'em on...
