wow, do i sense some hostilty....
When you first posted it didnt you mention about driving it around the local 'housing estate' with no tax, insurance, or MOT, and then you posted pics of it on the drive of a tiny bungalow, in a.... housing estate...
if your so rich, why did you start riveting bits of aluminium to it over the rust... why didnt you get the wings remade in titanium?

This is a really bizzarre thread. Why someone would have this approach and attitude is eluding me at the moment, and then wonders why people have got upset.

p.s. a client at work has just spent £500,000 resurfacing their driveway.... so don't go boasting about money like that... there are people far richer out there A lesson I learn't early in life being born in Surrey and living in South East London Now can we let this thread die in peace... thanks muchly.

OK...this has got silly. I guess I shouldn't have posted up the link to the original thread...but ho hum, it's done. I have been slated in the past [not on R-R] for making my Bugrat with the mechanicals of an old Rapid and scrapping the rotten bodyshell, so I kinda see both sides to this. Fair enough the guy has come on here, bought a very cool members car, lost interest ect and scrapped it. We've all accepted that he perhaps ought to have offered the car to another member....though it now appears he did! He has been very rude too, unfortunately so have a lot of us. Anyway...I've added the guy to my MSN list...like I said I can and always try to see both sides of this and other situations and I wanted to see if he really was as bad as it appears on here. This afternoon I have been chatting with him and frankly he's a very friendly guy! He's decided that car restoration isn't what he likes after all, though he still enjoys old cars. He's only 20 remember, so he is perhaps still "experimenting" with life choices! One thing I did forget to ask though is which scrap yard the car is in. So...let's all chill out, accept that he's done things differently than some of us would and keep Retro-Rides welcoming. If I were a newbie and read this thread first I wouldn't return! Wigschevette....come back, let's start again, and perhaps you could help smooth things over in a non negative way by telling us the whereabouts of the Chevette [if you know]so that it or some parts of it can be saved.

Dave you should be in politics......................
I personally dislike the swearword filter - it's here by order of the management and you live by the rules of where you are - but it has just made my gosh darn day today
Just pure comedy - I'll have to use a bit of it in my signature

Ok maybe my choice of words were rubbish. All i was trying to say is that i don't live on a council estate which is true, i live in a nice area in a house with a mortgage..far from a council housing estate, annoys me that people make these assumptions. Also there is another thing in life which most of my weekly wage gets blown on which I'm not going into which is probably the main reason the chevette never got done. Ratlookreliant....When i drove it for those 2 short blasts around a few country roads it had MOT and TAX, just no insurance, don't make me out to be scum because i have two other cars fully insured tax'd and mot'd, its not like i drive all the time uninsured. I never riveted bits of metal to the rot, i didnt do a thing to the chevette apart from strip a few pieces off it. And to be honest i don't know a lot about fixing up cars, the metal over the rot idea was to get it done quick and easy, which never happened anyway. Finally, ratlookreliant if you looked closer at the pictures you would notice its a house not a bungalow, the house lying on a main road also, not an a estate.

wigs to be honest, no-one here cares about your personal life, no one cares that you're a stoner ( ) , and no-one cares about your house on R-R we 'do' cars. if you wanna learn about 'fixing up cars' - you're in the right place! Have you said which scrapper the shuvvit went to yet?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt it one of your precious RR members who started bringing my outside life into all of this.
