I'm not 100% but I think it does have TT running gear - a lot of them are only FWD, remember, not all of 'em are Quattros....or he could have just removed the takeoff for the rear box. Would explain the wider track and so on.
Babelfished the text and this suggests this but it's pretty garbled, any German speakers on here? ;D

A very good point sir... but although I can't speak German, I think "Motor 1.6l 16V 125PS" means it may have a 1.6litre 16valve 125PS engine Did any Euro pov-spec TT's come in 2wd/4-stud/1600cc? Don't get me wrong, apart from the wheels, I think it's a cracking little motor ;D

That's the Polo/Golf/Bora small block engine - the 1.8T has coil packs and no raised bits over the cams 1.8 Turbo: EDIT - As an aside, the TT's platform can take that engine as it has been fitted to the Octavia, Bora, Golf, A3, etc. that share its oiley bits. I don't know if it ever was abroad though. We got official 2WD pov spec TTs here for a while though.

it easily has the potential, but just needs to be a little lower and more suitable wheels to really unlock the ability
