"Hasta La Viva Baby"! Love it!
Exhaust flamer kits range from the fairly straight forward to the complex. You can buy the off-the shelf (just remember that PC Plod doesn't like them and neither does Mr MOT! ). I think the off the shelf ones cut into the engine ignition system - you basically rev the curse word off of it then flick a switch and the little box diverts the spark from the cylinders to the exhaust. Doing this too much can however wash out your piston rings and wreck an engine (so I've heard). There is, apparently, enough unburnt fuel in the exhaust running normally to be able to ignite and get a flame. The "old skool" way to do this is to set up a spark plug in your zorst (naturally) then set up a 12v motor with cam to run contact points and coil (like a 2nd ignition system almost, but in the boot) to send a spark to the exhaust and ignite the excess fuel. Never tried any of these methods but I do want to set something up when the V8 goes in...
The pro's rig up propane cylinders to get massive flames but personally I'd have to be really brave to try that!!!!
Really cool project mate! I want to jack up the rear end on my Merc - is the Viva coils or leaf springs? If it's coils I really want to see how it's done . Leafs are fairly straight forward as you probably know.
