I'm looking for a cheap runabout as I now only ever do town driving and my 3.2 Merc is becoming costly on fuel! I know that a couple of people on here have K11 Micras and I'm wondering what people think of them (I mean to own, not that they are ugly etc) Basically I'm looking for someone to convince me that my life would be empty without a Micra in it! A nice pic for your troubles.....

They're cheap too run. Handling is fun. VERY cheap too make quick enough too scare yourself. Reliabe, i've racked up 30k in 2 years of ownership never ever had a problem that stopped the engine working. Easy too work on, i mean seriously easy. I stripped the new engine i bought with no previous knowledge in 3 hours.... Look awesome Euro style. This is mine. also 6ft3 with space for a passenger behind me. Large boot back seats fold flat, i carried a rear axle and an engine in mine, that low, with no issues. God they're awesome. Most other old nissan parts fit them. Primera leather steering wheel. So cheap too get parts for. Brake pads from euro parts are £14 a set. disks are about £20. Whats not too love.

Superb! Thanks Davey, thats exactly the response I was after! I'm 6ft and was worried about my height I also wondered about swapping parts with other Nissans and the steering wheel was one of the items I would definitely change Yours looks brilliant, the stance is perfect ( not too low!) Love it. I'm 100% going to look at a white one for sale locally after reading your response

If you can go for a 1.3/1.4, even my 60 year old mum says the 1.0 is underpowerd lol. Also watch the gearboxes on the 1.0, my clutch exploded and took the gearbox out @ 84k. Good little car's though.
Also don't over look the Toyota Starlet 95-99 model, my mum had one as a company car back in the day. I put about 12k hard miles on it when I was 17 - it took lots of rev limiter clutch drops and never broke.

Ive been determined to get a pre 1990 car because I miss my old cars but the K11 keeps appearing on my radar no matter what I look for. Can easily be made to look very nice as that love for the K11 thread proves

The 1.3 rods and crank can be fitted with the 1.0 pistons too get a high compression engine too. Awesome little cars. Forgot too mention, when mine was standard i could get 55mpg out of it on a run. Glad i helped and i'm glad you like mine, few things i'd change about it. When you have a chance (If not already.) There is alot of info on micra.org.uk. Including a massive blog on mine haha.

I'm so used to owning massive cars with massive engines that I completely overlooked the Micra until last week... I'm really quite excited about owning one now and have some subtle plans for modifications Davey, can you give me a link to your blog please

I'm now thinking fo getting a K11.. Partly Uncle Silvia's fault I love how that super s looks. I have a K10 at the moment that was given to me when my Supra decided its didn't need its headgasket. But the tuning parts back up for a K10 are non existant. Been thinking of a 1.3 or a super s. There are so many bits to make these quicker/better handling see here... humphrisoxford.co.uk/motorsport/2012-01-16.pdfAlso theres often genuine Nismo/HKS parts on ebay for them could make a nippy little track day tool with one for not much money.

Thanks man, just been checking it out. I also stumbled upon your blue one while searching K11 stuff on the net...good work. Must admit that after reading about yours I think I want a black bumper K11 (they look the coolest to me)

+1 vote for the Micra Mine is faultless and is just easy to get on with, ive had mine on the road now for a year doing about 35-40 miles a day and all i have done is change the oil and serviced it. That is it. Personaly, having owned an Austin Mini I think the Micra had got a certain amount of mini genes, only difference is they don't rattle your fillings out.

Thanks for posting that up mark. What you say about the Mini is totally true, Nissan bought the rights too the A-series engine and the CG engines are loosely built around them. *anorak
