retro is - as has been described on MANY occasions - a state of mind as much as a year associated genre.
if course, everyone has their own take on it
I'm undecided about this porker, though i do like the paint. it certainly has ever right to be on this forum!

Is the Porka (eith er of the two here) a "retro" car? no.
Is either of the Porkas here a low budget ride nailed together with more enthusiasm than facilities (as is the retro way)? no.
Is it wildly modified race / show car? No
Does it somehow "fit" anyway into the strange world of retro tastes? yes
Kinda like we had a post of a modern Civic and the Citroen C2 the other day, some moderns get posted as a sort of discussion point.

It is imitative of the style of military vehicles used in the mid-to-late twentieth century; an application of that style to a 2001 Porsche. Ergo Retro. Non? *n Then again, Is the 996 porsche not just an Evolution of the 911 using design cues from the original 964 model and therefore all porsche 911s are by design 'retro' regardless of any mods or colour schemes? Or is that just b0ll0cks?

Hadn't thought of that, Hmm it is an evolved retro design and model. It does take a battered, or creatively modded porsche of any age, or any other 'exotic' to interest me though.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Is either of the Porkas here a low budget ride nailed together with more enthusiasm than facilities (as is the retro way)? no. The main one I posted is relatively low-budget. It's a recomissioned car and has cost him far less than a similar car of that age. *n

Low buck for a Porka is probably still pricey by our standards

Got the full story behind it's origins: It was totalled by a previous owner, rebuilt as a track car and then recertified by Shannon for street use. 'Nother update: Seeing better photos of it really emphasises just how much the paint job works on the car as a whole; it's very soft-focus and helps to break up it's shape. I want to see it on the move *n

the more I'm seeing it, the more its growing on me I have to agree. That last set of pics sold it to me. I was thinking that I preferred the German camo Porker, and that this one looked a little wrong somehow with the patterning... but no, I think it rocks.

It's this pic that steals it for me: Slightly surreal, rather menacing... *n

I like the German version better but this one still hits the spot - retro or not they are both worthy of open debate IMHO
