but...
I've seen a fairly large number of typically later model cars with numbers written up the side of the front or rear screen partially in alpha
so like
Nineteenfifty2
or
0eight9eight
or whatever
Wondered if there was some meaning to this or it just some random curse word thing.

windscreens are for seeing where you're going, not for plastering with random number stickers . . .

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Probably removed for the photo - a lot of show car types and proper photographers are pretty OCD about that sort of thing. Have a look in the pages of yOur favourite magazines at feature shots to see how many cars have no tax disc
Although the clean look screen with no tax disc is a moot point if you have a bunch of stickers messing it up...

^ first year liability on a band M private car. I'd guess it's a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of the vehicle.... I prefer my duty rate ;D

I always used to put my tax disc in the top left of the screen, rather than the bottom left. Like being able to see what's going on at road level, less concerned about things in the sky presenting a hazard.
Of course, I also had a fondness for cars with top-tint windscreens. I'm not convinced I can get away with that anymore though.
Must have bought about 100 of those magnetic tax disc holders in my lifetime, though.

The tax disc only needs to be on the passenger side of the windscreen, there's no requirement for its position vertically.
