Six years. Silver SLK 320 was awful and has gone, and that's the end of that story.Well, I got the 320 as a swap with someone I'd dealt with before and considered a friend, trusted their description of the car, and it was a dog. The 320 itself is lovely, and if I could have my yellow car, but as a 320, that would be great.
But that particularly silver one got punted off for £500 and lesson learned. How it had an MoT is beyond me, but the gearbox was refusing to go into top in sport mode, the underside looked like the deck of the Titanic, and the bracing pieces had rotted so badly one was right through and free floating; the roof looked like the window surround had been filled and painted by a toddler, and the jacking pads had fallen out pushed by sill rust.
"But it's rough on top and clean underneath, mate" - and this was from someone who has a proper ramp and claims to have seen underneath.
So, about 50/50 on disliking the car for what it was, and disliking dishonesty. C'est la vie, I've had so many cars this is not a new experience, just one I had hoped to avoid.
