Hi....I'm new here, and to the whole modifying thing in general....I have to say, I LOVE this look that I'm seeing on here (The beautiful orange Audi 80GT in "Readers Rides" being a prime example)....This "Standard, no spoilers, but with small diameter, WIDE alloys" look is just great! I'm shortly going to be taking delivery of this.... ....Lovely 1979 Renault 20TS ;D The car will have lowered/uprated suspension when I get it, and I'd love to investigate the possibility of fitting the (ATS???) alloys as fitted to the Audi, to it aswell. Can anyone advise me if these rims are still available new/where they could be obtained? Cheers

Thanks for the link.... I've no idea of the R20's PCD at the mo....The vendor of the car knows his stuff, I'll e-mail him and let You know.... The car is on the standard 14" rims currently....Dunno whether I should sick with the 14s, or go down to 13s....I would imagine there is a real danger of fouling the rear wheelarches with wheels of too great a diameter/width Definately needs further investigation!

You will want 13x7"s with 175/50 tyres to get the look your after, get the wheels on it then see how much you can lower it. Expect a bumpy ride and/or wheel rubbing if you want it to look good tho in my experiance!
PCD is important, i know you can get ATS's in 4x100 and 4x108 (vw and ford) but not sure about other PCDs
(The rear arches on that don't look lowering freindly tho!)

Baz, I think a slammed (raked?) R20 on ATS Classics or similar would be IMMENSE! R20's must be getting close to single figures now, so a modded one would win instant WTF? kudos. (ps. welcome etc.)

I agree...The R20 has good potential....I want to do summat subtle with it (mainly just suspension & wheels) and then take it to the shows....Reckon it'll go down well! Particularly looking forward to next year's R-R show....Loved the pics I saw of this year....Wanna be part of it!

Try TJ Motorsport for the wheels. Tim's a good bloke (Manta Club member), and seems to offer decent prices. www.tjmotorsport.co.uk/

I'm 99% certain Renault are the same PCD as Vauxhall so you shouldhave no problems on that front. Oh! Nice car BTW. Can't remember the last time I saw one of them. Probably about 12 years ago.

Thanks all, for Your encouraging and welcoming comments....Great to see a few familiar names....Makes me feel right at home already! I'll establish the R20's PCD, consult with the suppliers kindly mentioned, and Mr30TX (the vendor of the car) and let You know the verdict!

Genius purchase! Totally totally cool. I'd say go careful with the mods. Not sure the 20 would suit smaller or stretched wheels. IMHO that look works best on smaller cars and the 20 is a big old beastie. Lowering should look ace, with a bit of rake for extra goodness, but I'd be tempted to go up a size or two.
Whatever happens, we'll be NEEDING pics of such a rare and cool motor.

It's a similar kinda shape and size to the early Passats I think, so it'd work well on ATS Classics I reckon, like this: ;D
