I wish ebay had a tick-box to search for cars with valid MOT, it would save a lot of time trawling through each ad to see what is roadworthy when after a cheap motor.

The Camary didn't sell (£500 no bids) so the owner has relisted it for £995. Go figure!!!

^ I reckon that Merc had a dear private plate on it so someone put it through a hooky MOT so they could get it transferred...! It looks far too much of a nail to have only been MOT'd (legitimately) 6 months or so ago!

That 190 looks pretty good for the money, shame it's such a short MOT!

Do we advocate winning good value, MoT'd cars on eBay, then changing our mind, saying they're too far away, and not completing the purchase, thus completely wasting the sellers time?

Unfortunately it appears so. Indeed. I personally would advocate not doing that, because you never know, for example if the car you agreed to buy is sat in the workshop of a Moderator on one of your favourite forums.

The car in question came up on a search of cars within 50 miles of my address, I put in a bid as I thought it was Seaham (Durham), When I realised it was Shoreham I asked the seller to cancel my bids while the auction was still live. The seller didn't so I won the auction. Being 350 miles away, I wouldn't even be able to collect it at this time of the year anyway, as this is a plumbers busiest period. The seller at the time could have done a second chance offer to the guy who bid £20 less then me, but instead went down the route of a non paying bidder warning. Edit - I've found out how I made the mistake. After the search of 50 miles is finished, it shows you cars further afield. I've scrolled past this cut off point, reached the Renault 9, and then put in the bid. As this shows, my 50 mile search is on the left of the picture, but the search has gone further afield.

Why would he cancel your bid? That serves only to bail you out or your stupidity, and risk reducing the value of any 2nd chance offer significantly (for example if the 3rd highest offer was a lot less). And why would he not submit a non-paying bidder warning, given that's exactly what you are? Also, fwiw, it's not an 'instead' - you report the non-paying winning bidder and give a 2nd chance offer. Messers on eBay are so intensely frustrating.
