I had an a reg talking dash one with factory fitted twin carbs that was a real hoot to drive & the carbs sounded awesome on full throttle, unfortunatly the local toe rags had a liking for it too & i lost count of the amount of times i'd come out from the house in the morning to see it missing outside & then have to report it to the police stolen only for it to turn up in a day or two minus its locks & out of petrol! I even got on 1st name terms with the owner of the local scrappy when i owned it as i probably bought every Maestro lockset they ever had!

As a kid I used to call Maestro's summat rotten, but I have a massive hankering for an MG 2.0 or even turbo. I even keep looking at our van and keep thinking about dropping a T16 tomcat lump in there. One day, I will have one. Well done on your imminent acquisition

As my mums was broken into, quick hammer through the locks and in, it was the steering wheel bar that she fitted that slowed them down, after they had taken a crowbar to most of the door and the steering coloum. It was a financial/insurance write off after that

I don't live in the best of areas, and although I'm sure most of the little rejects won't even know what it is, I'm pretty sure they'll know by its age its an easy steal. *Goes off to look at steering wheel disc locks

I've had a Disklok for the last 7 years, in that time it's been fitted to a Mini, a Bug, Mk2 Polo Bready and a Mk2 Metro and none went missing. Oh, and I live in Beirut ;D
I always remember seeing these as a kid and I used to work with a bloke who had a black 1990 Turbo which was very quick. Look after it and keep on top of the bodywork and you should be ok.

Hopefully tax it some time this week, my mates going to detail it, and I'm gonna start searching for the little bits I need for it :-)
There's something about having an old car sat on the drive that makes you smile a bit inside ain't there

That's a very early 2-litre model, so it's pretty rare too. From 1983-late '84 MG Maestros had a 1600 R-Series engine with twin Webers, but in October of that year the 115bhp 2-litre Efi O-Series (which is what yours is) was introduced.
Enjoy, it's lovely!

wow lloks very tidy, I had a 1300 with all the MG kit on years ago and that had had new rear arches on then.
My dad had 2 1300s as company cars back in the day as well as a montego 2.0 lx in green, that was a nice car as well.

That's a nice looking example, and very early for a 2.0efi. I drove what was reputedly the first privately owned 2.0efi (I was also told that it was on the stand at the NEC for the launch announcement, but have not seen any photos of the event to confirm this). I also have the honour of being the first person to break a cam belt on one of these models (the same car as mentioned above). It broke at about 47k when I was accelerating away from traffic lights in Aylesford. I believe that as a result of me that Austin Rover reduced the cam belt change interval BTW according to a policeman, the efi stands for extra fast idiot
