I'm trying to find info on the cassette deck fitted to the Princess I've recently bought and I'm stuck. While I can find PYE info online, I can't find anything for the one I have. It's in dire need of new belts, and I'm hoping to be able to use it as it's a great bit of period kit, but without knowing anything about it I haven't the faintest notion how to go about getting belts and such for it. I'm guessing that the unit is a early-mid 1980s one since the car was sold in 1980, but it's possible it's earlier as there'd be nothing stopping an owner fitting an earlier unit.

Cheers for posting that! It bring back alot of memories as my dad had one years a go in a maxi and I clearly remember listening to The Orbs little fluffy clouds on repeat on a single cassette. Most excellent. Sorry I cant help with the belts tho, would it be possable to make some? what are they like?

Chances are you'll be able to find a generic belt online. However, this sort of thing tends to be quite complex - or at least fiddly - to dismantle.
I've a Sanyo from a similar era that will be returning to the Imp before too long. ;D

Got a model number? I know there's loads of belt kits available for pro-audio tape machines, there may be for this.

I don't know where the model number for this is, I would probably have to remove it from the car. I don't have any paperwork for it either, that would have made the search online a lot easier.

My Dad fitted that exact one in his '75 Bay Window. Don't recall where he got it (certainly not new) but I would have thought it was early 80's vintage. It was good at chewing tapes though. Probably needed a new belt
