;D I've got the Eunos, and I've got a 924S, so now I need the fruity Italian number to complete my hair dresser stable. Seriously though, they're surely in Retro territory by now? Early ones rock similar to the Lancia Delta Evo2 motor, and later ones have that glorious 20v 5 cylinder soundtrack. Styled on the oustide by Chris Bangle before he ruined BMW's lineup, headlamps designed to look like the other halfs derriere, interior and assembly by Pinnafarina. Clever VLSD and BLISTERING performance coupled with fairly decent for the time handling, especially considering the massively heavy front weight bias. 0-60 in 6.2 seconds, 155 mph and 220bhp in stock form Mind blowing 40-100mph accelleration. Potentially massive power and a very cheap entry to the 300bhp club with carefully selected parts. And they look like this.

look so much better in that blue than the dull red/pink that most of them seem to be in. all i can remember about working on them is its a three man job to take that huge bonnet off and there a pig to line back up again. theres allways at least one broken one in the fiat dealer up the road from me.

I managed to convince myself that I require one, to the point I'm looking at one at the weekend and have been sorting out delivery quotes.

Ahh you see Rob because they're easy to make powerful with poorly selected modifications and they need attention to various coolant pipes and stuff, they do break a fair ammount.
But I can keep on top of that stuff.
Mate of mine had a 330bhp one that was ultra reliable once he'd put new cooling hoses on, replaced the cracked turbo manifold and kept it serviced, and he used to drive it really hard.

I've owned two of these, both of them 16v Turbos. Both were incredibly expensive money-pits, on which everything went wrong and everything cost a fortune to repair/replace. Left a really sour taste. However, there are people on here who've had better experiences with them! I think the ones I had may have just been uncharacteristically knackered old duffers. When they were working, they were ace to drive! Really cool interiors too.

I think the coupe has made SOTW three times now. I remember my mate Dan getting very upset about them appearing twice, so yeah, that's three by my count

I'm really drawn to this colour, as you never see them in it. Edit, wrong colour!

I know the 20vT is potentially pricey, but from what I understood the 16v's were far more liveable from a wallet point of view. Personally, I couldn't sacrafice the sound track. I've been told that clutches and cam belts are pricey, the rest is common sense, however yours won't be the first horror story I've heard about ownership. I don't think I'd ever employ one for standard duty, but as a fettled and usable weekend bruiser I reckon I'd cope However, there are people on here who've had better experiences with them! Awesome car, i own the marea 20v estate, 147 (fatter brother), the basic footing are exactly the same as the coupe, the subframes font and rear apparently bolt straight up, they are very liveable, in n/a form, this is my 3rd on over the last 8 years. the main thing is the timing belt, if you buy one that hasn't been done or no proof that is a big bartering point as these cost around £500 to replace, i always use poweritalia in basildon as there reputation is the best, they also are very friendly and after me having bits done to my wagons there over the last 8 years i feel like i know them. drop links are often gone on these as are the lower wishbone bushes. working on them is quite easy, i did changed my whole suspension in less than 2 hours, the longest tomes was spent on spring compressors, teh parts are quite cheap to buy at the moment too, and they are raw power, my n/a 20v sounds like a banshee on full chat. i would service them every 6k using selena oil, also i always use paraflu in the rad for peace of mind. the clutches are expensive too budget on £550... Rust there should not be any unless it has been treated badly or crashed, mine is 14 years old and there are a couple of blisters but noting to worry about.
my cousin run a 20vt as a daily racking up silly miles, he has had it 10 years and never had a probelm becasue he has serviced it regulary. just get one thats been looked after and you should be fine.

Reason these are start to appear is that my cousin has an ever expanding family and took his Coupe off the road a year ago due to this. 400 miles previous it was serviced, healthchecked and chipped with a Gtec 2 chip at Power Italia in Basildon. That service included all belts and tensioners, so the cam belt is done too. Apparently it now boosts to 1.2bar in 1st and second tails off to 1 bar at higher revs in all gears, it had the fueling checked too while it was chipped. Power Italia told him that the front flexi's would want doing sooner rather than later, and they also replaced the front wishbones. The brakes were squeeling so they gave him some shims for the brembo's. He reckons it'll want a thermostat (which hes supplying) and a few bits of interior trim need putting back in, but other than that it should be alright. I've known the car for 3 years now, it's always been looked after , bodywork is still pretty tidy but the wheels are a bit rough looking. And, I need something that'll sit 4 in comfort and has a decent boot.

There thermostats play up too lol, sounds like a good one, the wheels are pretty easy to sort, i have coupe wheels on my wagon and i just blocked them down and repainted them using rattle cans come out very nice, although they are due another re-paint now. i had the flexis go on my first one too.
They are a good relaible car as long as you are not silly with the boost, they handle surprisingly well to, you should check the coupe forum out too and also Rog at poweritalia is always on the end of the phone and he is a fountain of knowledge.

Looked into one a few years back as they were pretty much pence plus I cut my teeth on UNO turbos, which are hideously unreliable, mainly wiring issues.
I was told they were a grand to get the cambelt done due to all the hassle of removing the bonnet etc which put me off tbh.
Nice looking motors but if a clutch and the belt were needed it's going over the bridge, their only about a £1300 car now aren't they?
Did see some idiot advertising a gold one in Swansea for £3300 this weekend.
Oh dear.

Aye anyway. The 16v's are less reliable and more likely to be rusty due to age and they did rust proof the 20v's better,as has been said a cambelt is around £600 . Join the fccuk forum and don't go near a fiat dealer with one! Remember the 20vt was the fastest front driver off its day and they were not cheap to buy new,the first owner paid £24 k for my first 20vt the running costs do go hand in hand with the performance. 20vt's sound awesome, here is a rubbish video of my standard one a few years ago,the creaking at the end is the wishbones bushes, get used to changing them! I will have another!
