Turned out the so called good engine was no soo good, as soon as thermostat opened the rad would excessivly pressurise. The head and block were not ok. something wasnt flat and even after changing the headgasket the problem, albeit much better was still present. A friend of mine told me he had a genuine 30k mile 2 litre pinto sat in his unit that i could have for a sensible price (cheaper than a skim of the parts from the first engine). Out came the old lump, swapped over the ancillaries and put it back in this weekend. The pintosaurus fired up this evening! all seems ok, just neeeded to time it up and take it for a spin. The car passed its MOT this morning.... Happy days!!! All is running schweet!

Nice.....I'd so loose those hooks though......why not make some nice ally ones? All you need is a fire, a pan, a load of beer cans and a mould dug in the ground......you can even place the hooks in the mould so you keep the afixments
