Hi,
I'm after a ladder for the rear of my T4 but i don't really want a bolt on type as i wont want it on the van all the time.
ive been looking on the web and i think shogun ones clamp on the top? or the Fiamma ones, cant find any suitable pics atm as I'm mobile
anyone got any other ideas?
Ta

I fitted a Terzo ladder from a Delica (L400) to Nutter81's T4 fairly recently. It fitted fairly well - the top mounting plate could do with re-profiling slightly (i.e. bend it a bit in a vice) but other than that, it went on far better than expected and looked the part. They fit by slotting the top plate over the top edge of the door and the bottom hooks under the lower part of the door. You tighten clamps on the bottom brackets which pulls the whole thing tight onto the door. Takes about 2 mins to fit, no drilling, no holes, no damage. You'd need to check the height of your door against the height of other 4x4's tailgates and see what comes the nearest. Terzo's have a fair bit of adjustability, so as long as you find a tailgate within a few inches, you'll be fine. Look at Lucidas/Eminas, Bongos, Delicas, Townaces, Largos etc....Terzo made ladders for most of the JDM van based/one box MPV's etc... They look cool too because they are quite chunky. Here is one on an L400 Delica: They all come painted/coated in silver/grey but this can be quite patchy & faded after many years on the vehicle. I've powdercoated my one black on the L300 (cost £20) If you fancy having something a bit more shiny, you can strip off all the paint and polish them up (they are very good quality alloy tube) - I did some a good few years ago and made some healthy turnover selling them back on Here's one of my old ones... If you do buy a Terzo ladder and the stickers are really faded, I have reproduction stickers that I designed and made to give the ladder a freshen up. I can even do custom colour ones as you can see above on my black ladder... Food for thought.

Delica ones tend to fetch strong money - mostly between £180 and £300 depending on condition. This pricing seems unique to Delica's though and the Terzo's designed to fit other makes tend to sell for more sensible money - around £100-£150. I sold an L400 Delica ladder a few weeks back, sold it for £175 because I just wanted it gone quickly and the guy was thanking me for ages for letting him have a bargain! I do have a Terzo down at the unit. I have no idea what it's off (I'm pretty sure it's not a Delica one) - I can have a measure up for you if you like and take some photos of it too? They always look good on the back of big vans/4x4's because they are so chunky compared to all the other tyres of ladders. I'll get back to you with some shots....I'm down at the unit tomrrow anyway, so can get pics and details then.

The ladders that fit on the back of discoverys fit over the edge of the top door frame and bolt to the door by the number plate. they are meant to be rivnutted on, but could probably be adapted to be removeable.
I've got one in the garage I bought years ago but have never fitted, will one day. Need towork out how to fit rivnuts.

Bruce,
yes please some pics would be great
garra,
Rivbnuts are dead easy, its as simple as drill hole, insert rivnut tool with rivnut on the end and rivet it - just like using a normal rivet

Have you thought about a wheel step as an alternative ? ^ They are pretty good ^ But only if you load things on & off the roof from the side of the vehicle....not so good when you need to get up there to strap things down well, move things around or maybe just get higher to enjoy the views etc... I couldn't live without my ladder now....far too useful for more than just getting things in & out of my roof crate.

Hi Dan,
I've just measured the Terzo I've got at the unit. It'll suit a door approx 56" tall but can easily be shortened or lengthened by about 5" either way without any bother (as I said before, they are very adjustable). It would mount on the offside off the. An unlike Brian's one which is fitted to the nearside. This is due to the shape of the dogleg on the ladder which caters for the van narrowing towards the roofline.
I'll take some photos of it and post them up for you when I get home later.
