blimey, just realised I have to get both the VW and the Trans Am fixed and sold in 2 weeks or have to re-insure the boggers. Oops. This would be tight enough if I didn't have to fix the Fairmont first too! Make it run and make it pass an MOT.
Wish me luck...

Trans Am has its resale wheels and tyres on. Fairmont rust scabs dealt with. and acting on advice I fear may not have been sincere I put the Fairmont carb through the dishwasher....

Is good as I couldn't get the carb to split open without forcing it so a wash in one piece seemed the safer option.

Dude, I will check with the boss to see if I can spare some time to give you a hand on the weekend? Youngest has scarlet fever at the moment, so cannot guarantee anything but I will speak to SWMBO...

whats the damage on 'needed for mot' jobs then? Until I get it running on all 6, I dunno! All part of the fun. Last one was in 1993 as far as I can tell. I am hurt that you thought we were not being sincere 'cos nobody on that table has a past history of mickytaking at all, ever. Rysz - I can see why you want out of the house then! kidding... I've a fairly free weekend as Isabel is off with Emma on a family thing Saturday.

click on the "'79 Ford Fairmont" link...
It still runs like a bag of animal waste product.

If you didnt split the carb how could you clean out all the jets and things and check the float height ect? putting it through the dishwasher whole wont do a damn thing except fill it up with water....

fair point, it just didn't want to come apart and I didn't want to force it and risk damaging the casting, I guess another pull is in order...
