Being an Imsomniac I quite often find myself lying awake thinking of some very random things, well the other night it was Scalextric...more to the point Retro Scalextric Cars or which ones I had...I now know I dropped off at that point and forgot all about it until this Morning and of the ones I could find the retro ones were as followed: Datsun 260z in Shell Livery Audi Quattro 2 Metro 6R4's Mini Cooper Mini Clubman Ford Capri with Big Spoliers Rover SD1 Police Car Fiesta XR2i MK3 with Tiger Stripes Escort MK4 (well the Body anyway) Seat 850...one I picked out as a Kid and never really new what it was lol....gonna do a bit of research! Unfortunatly most of these are in a rather Sorry State but its kinda got me on the verge of setting up my track again but the point of this post is...do any of you own any Retro Scalextric Cars?

I think I used to have the Metro 6R4s, but I'm not sure what other ones I might have had. Take a look at this... The Sunbeam Imp - "The grown-up's answer to Scalextrics". So there you go, if you want to relive your childhood, buy an Imp!

can i mention retro-retro Scalextric cars... I have from memory the following they where my dads but I claimed them, he bought them when he started working in the late 50`s so they are original cars. Ferrari F1, BRM F1, Jaguar D type, Aston Martin (quite similiar to the Jag, Bently and Alfa that where later re-released in the 80`s, a bright yellow Porsche 356 and some others I cant remember. There is a guy in Stockport with a shop who sells all sorts of stuff for Scalextric and from lots of other different makes of models. Including some very nice Fiat 500 Abarths and lots of different rally cars, including some gorgeous Group B cars.. www.scalemodels.co.uk/Enjoy!

I picked up a "Mighty Metro" set with two 6R4s and the dead boring figure of 8 track set at a car boot sale last week. £3. Unfortunately the pinions on both motors are cracked so I'll need to get some new 'uns. And possibly a "friend" to operate the other controller and make the damn thing worthwhile..
I only acutally bought it to try out the two "Pink Kar" split Beetles I've had for about 5 years and never used. Sadly the motor on one of them has almost died after just a few laps. Good job I got them as freebies... :/
Now if I only still had the 1275GTs, 911 Turbo, BMW turbo, spin-around stock cars and black Escort Mexico that I had when I was a kid... gah...

Hmm...Random thoughts eh? Good for you!
I still have a lot of my Scalextrics cars, and loads of track, but strangely lots of high banked curves but not many straights. Perhaps thats why I get a buzz out of my countryside driving!
As far as I remember I have 2 Datsun 260Z's, Kitt 2000/Pontiac firebird (warning Michael), 3 Porsche 911's, A ford Escort XR3i, a lancia 037 rally car, a few f1 cars and my favourite a SD1 Rover in cop car livery. I have lots of dead cracked ones too, I think there's a TR7, a mini clubman and remains of a Ford GT40.
I might go back to my parents loft and set it up. Anyone fancy popping round? Bring your panini football stickers swaps and conkers.....

When I get the loft boarded I'm going to have a big Scalextric. Sad eh!! not really! We used our front room as a 1/32 scale racing curcuit! It eventually got dismantled when we kept on tripping up on it and spilling beer/food/girlfriends etc Did anyone have the smaller TCR or Matchbox racing sets? I had a matchbox 'race and chase' set, and figured out that the smaller 6V cars would really really fly on the bigger Scalextrics set. Unfortunately the higher voltage transformer burned out the motors and eventually melted and set fire to the cars. Pretty exciting stuff really. Much better than being grown up.
