just came back from the car, there wasn't much that i could do to it other than looking over the wiring loom (with out moving or disconnecting anything) and i could not see any wires exposed, but it was only a brief look over.
regarding the starter motor i did acquire the car with a duffed starter which i replaces with a second hand unit out of a running car, same with the alternator. the thing that really confuses me is that the belt will stop smoking and squealing when i disconnect the battery and it ran fine, but soon as the battery is reconnected the problem comes right back
i will change the alternator again with a re-con unit (just need to dig one out to get rebuilt)
when i go back to the car tomorrow, i will firstly see if i can get it to crank and start, after that disconnect the alt belt and check the pulleys again, and finely without disturbing any wires see if there is any exposed wires

More I think about this, the more I wonder if the battery is the fault - I stand by my previous comments about what a fit battery will do to the wiring in a dead (or near) short situation, but if this is a sick battery with maybe a dead cell or two it could be the short circuit itself, and loading the alternator to the point of stall. That would also explain why removing the battery stops the smoking. Try a different battery? (edit - sorry, missed the post where you said you changed the battery over. Duh.)
Incidentally, don't try isolating the battery on a running engine again. There is a good chance that the back EMF spike will destroy the alternator and/or the ECU (and anything else electronic that is running).

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

i went to the car today and the first thing i did was remove all pulleys including water pump again and it all seemed perfect so definitely no problems there, than had a look at wire, the wiring loom is all in a black plastic tube and the tube looked very good with no cuts/splits...etc.... i did not take the tube off, connected a battery and it started perfect with no hesitation but the squealing and smoking still there.
i called in my dad to have a look (i learnt everything about cars of him) and he was lost as well, he said the alternator is doing its job but can not explain the squealing and smoking, we also could not work out why the car stops squealing and smoking when the battery is disconnected

Pull the fuses 1 by 1 till it stops to find the curcuit thats shorting? though TBH i cant see any fused curcuit on the car causing it, try just removing the starter main wire and leave the small one on, that would illiminate the starter or solenoid. P.S i'm straw grasping here

What happens if you remove the alternator belt completely and try turning the engine over??

sometimes you can get a duff starter and alternator when it looks ok. Check the alternator bushes and regulator. It seems that when you have your battery connected, there is a massive draw for some reason, maybe a faulty ignition switch is not returning to position 2 after cranking causing the starter to be continualy be engaged and then straining the battery and alternator? just a theory. might be wrong. Alternators usualy fail under load and seem ok when idling.

you do have the right belt fitted??? if the belt is too narrow/worn, it will sit on the bottom of the V, that will only give you about 10% of the surface area you would normally get, and cause a similar problem to what you have, check the root of all your pulleys to see if they are shiny, another thing you could try is belt dressing, thats sticky and will allow the belt to grip
