So after sorting the altenator belt probs, a couple of days pass and the starter packs up, went to the scrap yard to grab another and found this exhaust back box to replace the stock one. Got it fitted (pics 2mor in better light) and also removed the centre box, sound quite aggressive and backfires a quite a bit when you lift off the throttle Couple of better pics of the front still need to sort the other grill out Hopefully picking up some new wheels 2mor aswell.

Quick and dirty photoshop for you, though you'll have to find another Golf grille to do this. I think that with single lights those headlights are going to look too small and far apart. Good idea blanking off the end of the wings, that really helps erase the Volvo identity from the front and keep people guessing.

Cheers guys, I have thought about about running a twin headlight set-up like the old 'nothelle' grills: But i quite like the wide light positioning, so i might make an orciari style setup (Hidden headlights like the old dodge chargers and many others of that era.) Have to be a custom / home made job as the originals go for a few hundred if you can find them. Still need to get hold of another 7 slat mk2 golf grill as the other grill i have is only a 5 slat or maybe put a split / divide in the middle of the grill to break up the lines a little like the old 140 series grills? Open to all ideas and inspiration......... ;D

Just a small update, Did a quick (temporary until i finish the metal work) paint job before our 900 miles road trip over the bank holiday weekend. The grill still isn't fully finished but did a quick 'shop' for ideas Have fitted a new exhaust from a Lotus Elise to mute the noise a bit (sorry no pics yet) Still got lots to do but always after more input and ideas. Lose the angel eye lights and get some proper ones in there. Keep the grille (without the middle stripes) and go back to the chin spoiler.

If you want to, that is. These are great cars and will go forever if looked after.

Once you've finished tidying up that front grille, it's going to look pretty good on the front with the new bumper and spoiler. New wheels get a massive thumbs up from me, nice to see a car with a sensible bit of tuck.
Do you have an end plan for the paint, or are you sticking to the satin black? Must admit that personally I preferred the brown, but the black does make a bit more sense with the direction you seem to be going.

Have been after a set of cross-hair lights to replace the angel eyes (they were all i had lying around at the time.
The 'Stripes' in the grill are just unfinished bodyfiller and will be gone when i next work on the grill (soon hopefully)
The satin black paint is only temporary until all the metal and body work is complete, then i think it will be two-tone: white roof with either black, green or blue-grey lower body.
Will get some decent pics up soon ;D

Been a while, work has slowed but have got some more time to do bits now. Added a 'new' original front end (minus headlights - still trying to find the correct ones) Used some 6"x4" lights from a MR2 for now (need 7"x7" lights) Also started sanding off all the black paint getting ready to start spraying the new colour, only have the boot and fuel door done so far, It's a satin finish which i think will give a nice look to the car ;D Will add more pics as the paint goes on...... ....If anyone knows where a set of the lights are or a spare set of front wings (early style preferred but not overly fussed)PM me please
