Hope the mods don’t mind this as it is kinda project related and would be the most epic of builds making an apocalypse survival vehicle but what are peoples thoughts and plans on surviving the possible upcoming apocalypse? What sort of vehicles would you build? I’m quite sad and have made plans for almost every eventuality obviously some events you can’t makes plans and we will simply be dead such as a massive solar flare but lets here your plans for survival Heres a couple of mine… For a zombie outbreak or just general pandemonium in the streets I purpose this… I have a high walled compound with razor wire on top of the walls very close to my house I will also have several MP5's a few hand guns and shotguns so you best com, 2 members of my survival party are key to getting these weapons one being a farmer and the others dad being in the armed police The compound I have in sight also has a railway behind it so I will have an armoured train for getting up and down the country plus my compound just happens to be an accident repair centre so I will have the vehicles tools and materials at my disposal to build most epic apocalypse survival vehicles. should the floods come my survival plan involves getting as far out to sea as possible in a stolen boat then riding out the massive waves while inside a zorb ball

For that Zombie house to work, you would need motorised blades running around the outside walls at neck height

What I don't get with that zombie proof house is all the effort to make those MASSIVE window/door covers (which can't be solid...look at the size of the hinges) but then 20% of the exterior 'defense' is a thin roller shutter about 30ft across! The house might be real, but I bet it's nowhere near as solid or impenetrable as it at first seems. If it's a zombie apocalypse we're talking about, I'd have to follow this idea....then wire them up to a generator and let the brainless morons power my house for me. The front door will obviously be a bit more secure though In all seriousness, Butterz and I had a very lengthy discussion about this on a long roadtrip. We weren't talking about zombies here, but a more realistic 'apocalypse' where there is a breakdown in society and complete civil unrest/anarchy. If that was the case, then lots of guns and massive defences (we concluded) were not the answer. We both came to a very similar and surprising conclusion but I won't publish it here because it's probably not the kind of fully loaded gunfest survivalist answer this thread is looking for. In the meantime, I'll just continue to chuckle to myself about a house surrounded by zombies on a treadmill.

Thing is, you do all of that and giant worms come up out of the floor at you instead.
Conor has several plans for the end of the world. Strangely, they all involve a Capri with bullbars, and more guns than I consider necessary.
PS. Zombie treadmill. Excellent idea. Best bet for the door would be another treadmill.

are we talking about cars with huge spikes on them like death race? because I would love to have a car like that ;D As for that house - I strangely like that, might not be the best thing for zombies but perfect for any unwanted canvassers although Id probably super-electrify the ground around it ;D

According to blurb elsewhere on the internet those covers are steel frames stuffed full of insulation, idea being to make the house super insulated at night - which would make sense in the middle of a Polish winter. That roller shutter doubles up as a projection screen at night. Found some animated gifs of the covers in action which I found strangely hypnotic to watch

I'd keep my car for the breakout 4 inches of lift and 32" tyres and Custom bumpers and a winch might come in usefull 1 day Apart from that. My chainsaw and machete live in the boot for offroading but it could be usefull For a zombie proof car google project A.L.E.X.I for some ideas

We talkin about this 21/12/2012 thing? Some do say the date was changed slightly for the purpose of scare mongering and Hollywood. Only 100 Years out 21/12/2112 which from a numerology point of view, does make a little more sence. There is the other idea that being the end of the Mayer calender is not such a big deal, as it's really easy in this day and age for the Mayer to get on the internet and order their NEXT calendar should they wish, Much like we do every 31/12/xx when our own calendar indeed ends ;D ANYWAY I was wondering more about some kind of EMP type event. I don't know much about the "Details" and maybe i've been watching too many films BUT. The idea of all technology coming to an abrupt end, the micro chip, all computers, phones, cars, transport, etc etc etc fried in an instant, that would do more damage to the human race than anything else! I can honestly say that is part the reason i'm reluctant to part with my Sierra! Old Diesel technology! Out of hundereds of thousands of cars on the roads, having one of only a couple hundered that might still work would be a bit cool! Fuel wouldnt be a problem, thousands of unuseable cars (and trucks) lying around with tanks containing diesel! My biggest fear, is being one of those with a working car! In a world of such chaos, people WOULD kill for it

Ive heard from a reliable source (well a friend of my dad who seems to know the most pointless information ) that on the 21st december this year the planets will all be perfectly in line and we'll lose electric/satellite. heard about this before but not convinced, would be cool though, one day of disaster better get prepared then haha wonder what the result would be if instead of losing satellite completely it just messed around with it, imagine all the lost people with their sat navs on that day hahahahaha. now thats going to pose in my head forever now.

I think were you to live in a fortified house in an accessible area, the moaning from the surrounding sea of zombies would probably drive you insane. The best bet would be to live in the middle of nowhere - like in the depths of Siberia, where the zombies would a) never find you and b) be frozen stiff anyway (presuming that zombies are cold-blooded).
