After a throwaway comment at work, I have been challenged to make a new joystick for a Street Fighter arcade fan...
Essentially, it uses four buttons instead of a joystick, but to prevent cheating, it needs to not allow people to press up and down and left and right at the same time.
I am pretty sure I can do this with four NAND gates, with two NAND gates between up and down and two between left and right.
Anyone got any thoughts on this? I will do a circuit diagram when I get home for what I think should work but any confirmation in my thinking would be greatly appreciated!
I will be building this into a an old PS2 or broken XBOX 360 with Japanese arcade quality buttons and I will of course post this here!
