You are looking at a Jaguar XJR 4.0 litre Supercharged Automatic 4 door saloon in Metallic Dark Wine Red with Cream Leather Interior. The car was registered in 1994 and is an X300 model. The vehicle has done just over 105,000 miles and has a full service history, all Main Dealer (Jaguar Paramount in Cardiff) until 79,000 miles and Jaguar Specialist from then on (13 stamps in total). The car has been stored since 2007 and has a flat battery though it does start and drive with a jump start and has been regularly started and driven along my drive. It has the benefit of a Prins VSI multi-point sequential gas injection LPG system (the most expensive one) with Do-nut style 60 litre LPG fuel tank located in the spare-wheel. This car is also Hpi clear (clear from outstanding finance, insurance right off etc) and comes with all the original manuals and service booklets in an original Jaguar folder. This car is limited to 155 mph, and does 0-60 mph in around 7 seconds in complete luxury. I have owned this XJR since 2006 purchasing it from a specialist Jaguar dealer.
Engine/Transmission/Suspension condition: The engine runs smoothly (battery is flat due to standing) and is fitted (fitted in June 2006) with the current Prins VSI multi-point sequential gas injection LPG system (the most expensive one) with Do-nut style 60 litre LPG fuel tank located in the spare-wheel well, this system has injectors fitted into the inlet manifold so it doesn’t suffer from the well-known lack of power and backfires associated with earlier LPG conversions, there is also a switch (with built in fuel gauge) located next to the gear stick to change from LPG to Petrol. The engine is a 4.0 litre 6-cylinder block (which is well-known for being a very reliable strong engine, and doesn’t suffer from bore wear as with the more recent V8 models). The engine is free from oil leaks and doesn’t use any oil or coolant. Shortly before being put into storage a new drive belt, supercharger belt and an airflow meter was fitted. The vehicle comes with a full stamped service history - all Main Dealer (Jaguar Paramount in Cardiff) until 79,000 miles and Jaguar Specialists from then on (13 stamps in total). The car accelerates smoothly, with plenty of power with no blank spots and no misfires and the oil pressure gauge shows between 3 to 5 bar (normally around 4 bar), the supercharger is fine (no bearing noise), the alternator, starter motor, power steering pump etc. etc. all work as they should. The 4 speed automatic gearbox is the sports J gate model (with the all important sports switch) in very good condition, changing up or down is very silky smooth (with gear changes almost unnoticeable), traction control (switch to turn it off on the dashboard) works just as it should as with the cruise control (control paddles also on the dashboard). The car comes with the desirable polished original 17 Alloy Wheels which are in good condition but with typical minor signs of corrosion, all the tyres have around 5-6 mm tread so they have loads of wear left in them (though the car has been left standing for a long period of time so may be perished or have flat spots on them, visually they do look ok and hold air).
Bodywork condition: The bodywork is in an overall good condition in metallic dark wine red. The only minor dents are: two very small dents on the bonnet (caused by me parking it under a horse-chestnut tree one night) and a very small dent on the leading edge of the boot-lid (where it looks like something has been rested against it), these dents are not noticeable at all (as can be seen in the photos). On the rust side, the only visible rust is on both rear arches (normal Jaguar XJ problem), it does look like the rear arches have been filled at some point and the rust has bubbled up from behind the filler. The rust does look very localised and does not extend to the sills (apart from on the off side rear arch where it joins with the rear of the outer sill). The underneath of the car looks good, no visible rust and no visible signs of underside or sill welding. The paintwork is in good condition, there is some lacquer peeling from the top of the front wings and some on the bonnet but this is localised and looks like it should polish up also the paintwork on the front of the roof (above the windscreen) has gone dull, it does look like it has been touched in due to stone chips at some point earlier in its life before I purchased the car (again this may polish up). All chrome trim is in very good condition apart from two minor dents on the chrome work on the top of the rear bumper where it looks like something heavy has been rested on it while using the boot.
Interior condition: The interior is in a good clean condition. The cream leather seats are overall in good condition, with the rear and front passenger seat in excellent condition, the driver’s seat has suffered from a little wear and is slightly scuffed just through use (no cracks or tears) though the leather is supple. Both the drivers and passenger seat are fully electric including lumber support and headrests (which is a quite a rare extra option from Jaguar). Both front and rear seats have central armrests (with flip-out cup holder in full working order) and headrests. All the cream leather door trims are excellent as are the black carpets. The brown leather dashboard is also in great condition and the vehicle is fitted with digital climate control, headlight adjustment dial, auto-dim rear view mirror, trip and information computer, cruise control paddle, electric windows all-round, electric mirrors (with parking mirror retract button), central locking and overhead sunglasses compartment among loads of other features which I can’t remember (most probably all the extras Jaguar fitted to a XJR of this age). Speakers and the amplifier are the optional Hardon Karmon Jaguar upgrade including a sub-woofer located in the rear parcel shelf. There is no stereo but all the wiring is there to fit one. There are a couple minor problems in this area, the low coolant dashboard light stays on even though the coolant in the header tank is on maximum (I have had this checked out and the problem seems to be the sensor located in the header tank being faulty), this is really just an annoyance especially as the car doesn’t use any coolant whatsoever. Also the LCD clock display located in the console is temperamental (sometimes the clock shows the time, sometimes not, a common Jaguar problem I have found out). I have noticed a company conditioning the clocks on eBay for a small price. The biggest problem is the remote central locking does not work sometimes, though locking the car with the key is fine, the problem is that the car locks on the key fob but then unlocks straight away, sounds to me like the central locking motor in the drivers door needs a slight adjustment to line up with the door catch. The central locking works fine every time with the key in the door lock.
Summary: This car is not immaculate though in good condition but will need some minor work to pass its MOT due to the vehicle being left standing since 2007 (though has been started and driven regularly). The brakes are in a working condition and not seized. I appreciate that bidders may not be able to view the car before the end of the auction so I want to describe the car to the best of my ability! I have probably made the car sound a lot worst than it is as the problems are minimal and do not detract from the overall impression of this Jaguar. Performance is fantastic but smooth and with the LPG conversion this Jaguar will cover around an equivalent 40 mpg. At 105,000 miles on the clock this Jaguar is only just run-in especially with the comprehensive service history. Insurance costs are minimum due to its classic status and XJR’s of this age are starting to become collector’s cars.
I am helping a friend sell this due to lack of space and the location that it is being stored needs to be cleared - any questions, do not hesitate to ask!
Delivery can be arranged at an extra cost if required
Thanks.
