i have a question I'm sure a dude on here could answer. I'm thinking that if a supercharger or turbo is there to produce compressed air to dosh into the engine - why cant you put an air compressor or two into the air feed and have it turn on above 3000rpm or something useful like that. or would it do sweet FA? apparently if you stick an air line in a carb of a 2 stroke it will make it go bonkers and blow up. so I'm working on taht theory...

The flow rate for a compressor is about 14cfm
The flow rate for my 930cc engine is around 46cfm at zero psi and 3000rpm

I have a few biggish screw compressors at work and these flow around 120CFM @ 10 Bar. Ideal if you wanted to blow up a small engine but the extra half tonne added to the car would do the handling no good.

simply run a length of hosepipe from the air intoke to the cabin, and when you want to overtake someone blow into it really hard. VoilĂ .

How about a 2-stroke mounted in the boot with a propshaft going right up the middle of the car and a blower on the end of it? No power-sapping belts that way *n

There have been a few setups where a small gasturbine (the kind made from a turbo) is used to spin another turbo and the air from that is piped to the engine, ultimate anti lag!
