Are you gonna re-foam the sills? Adds a lot of rigidity apparently.

You sir have balls of steel!! That is some epic cutting and chopping, I'd forget how it all went together! Such a great looking car, always loved the shape. Looking forward to 2018

In most other cases if I saw that amount of fibreglass being cut away I would say the car will never live again. Having seen the work on the F40 though I have complete confidence. What gives you the motivation, is it the fibreglass fumes? Keep it up, awesome job.

Does look all right to me. Proportions are good.
Maybe an idea for the cover would be to mirror the line/ shape of the rear side window.

Yep, think that definitely works. Might be easier to visualise if it was all one colour though

Def not my style, sorry mate. Why do you think you need more air for an aircooled? Which are cooled are you thinking of? A Beetle doesn't have big holes in the side, it pulls in through the deck lid and blows it out the bottom. How about a later style -

Really appreciating the feedback guys,
For the duct over the top I'm thinking of hand beating aluminium sheet into shape to keep the early race car vibe.
I think i might need more air because I'm planning on fitting a harley davidson v twin, my head keeps telling me it will need it?!
I also think the whole shape and of the car will benefit, if i can get it right!
Keep it comming guys, I'm still in 2 minds!
Cheers

Harley D lump? Interesting! Would that be mid mount or rear? Inline or transverse? Would its cart-horse style suit the Davrian?
I have a ZX10 motor to go in my MK5, and I was thinking of transverse mid mounting it. It would mean removing the rear bulk head, but Mini powered ones had that from the factory. The seat backs need thickening up to become the bulkhead.

I'm thinking of rear mounting it to the imp transaxle or beetle if thats not possible.
A standard HD Evo motor is about 70hp (rev to around 6k) and 100hp isnt that hard or expensive, plus after building custom HD's in Oz i just love the noise. I'm building a road car not a race car, my friend plans to take his zx1100 out and insert a zzr1400 with a supercharger into his 420kg mk8!
I'm pretty sure there will be a bit more to it than thickening up the seat backs, the bulkhead will want redesigning and building back in, is carries the stress of the suspension.
Cheers

You wouldn't mount t to a diff with a reverse box in between? I'd thought of using a Harley motor in a three wheeler I bought plans for, although I wanted to supercharge it too. Sure there's more work required in the bulkhead, but I'm way too lazy to type it all out! ?

I don't plan to use the harley box because it will start to get a little complicated because its not a single unit like most bike set ups, plus it should keep the cost down massivley without the cost of the reverse box. Just got to mount a clutch onto the output of the hd motor and mount it with a cradle to the bellhousing.
I'm not after big figures out of it, around 100bhp will be nice, have played a little with a few drag HD's with turbos and superchargers.
I get were your coming from with lazyness in typing, i find it easier to cut and paste fiberglass than on the pc!
Cheers

I am loving this so much! In terms of the vent hole, I thnk it need to be oval or even teardrop shaped otherwise, even with the cover it will look like an afterthought with a hole cutter. In terms of the HD motor -- obviously to each there own but I can't help but feel the sound will be wrong - never mind it shaking the car apart. To my mind you want it to sound more Avengers than The Wild One if you know what I mean. Even a Corvair engine would sound right and look right. Or an X19 Fiat or even an MR2 lump?

With the cover it looks good, but without the transition into the "tube" is too abrupt imo. For the cover either mirror the rear window up side down or look at the cover for the modern Ford GT.

I'm with Jpsmith on this.. Oval hole! I think the HD engine is nice on the Morgan Trike but wrong for your car! It needs something light but rev happy. How about a Honda engine? Or use the driveline from a MGF..
Anyway MAD skills :-) Keep up the good Work!

Cheers 100 horses makes a quick Davrian, you should have decent torque too, just need to get the gearing right. Looking at the Morgan three wheeler, it has roughly the same power and weight and hits 60 in 8 seconds, probably because its grip limited which the Davrian won't be.... I need to get my fingers off the bloody iPad and into the fibreglass again!
