I'm in need of similar plexiglass covers for the front end of my RX7 but they're either rocking-horsee-poo rare or ridiculously expensive to get made when I've enquired. Tons of fake RX7 body parts about, sure someone on FDUK can rip off the MS light covers you need. Yeah, you'd think so but so far no-one has and there's not too much demand for anyone to tool up to do so. AL.

Yes that was with Tim, Cheers I don't suppose he's got any early modsports panels knocking around has he? I didnt see anything there when i was last there, he has some molds for modsports panels. How early and what panels you after?

I'm also going to make clear covers to go over the headlights with custom chrome surrounds to hopefully really finish the front end off. I know this is from a loooooong way back in the build but I've only just read through it all (awesome BTW) but I was wondering how you were going to make some plexi glass covers? I'm in need of similar plexiglass covers for the front end of my RX7 but they're either rocking-horsee-poo rare or ridiculously expensive to get made when I've enquired. I did toy with the idea of moulding some myself but so far lack of talent trumps good ideas Keep up the amazing builds, it's better than discovery channel. AL. To make the covers i need to make a mold of the inner and outer surfaces, these are then used to for the polycarbonate. Cheers

How early and what panels you after? I'd like front and rear panels and a bonnet from a mk6/7 mod sports to drop on my mk5. I know Tim has moulds but he is awfully slow. If you're not a racer you seem to go to the bottom of the list.

Holy smokes, an accurate F40 replica! F40's are my second favourite ever car, 1st place goes to the Metro 6R4 which I've been planning on building a version of for a while. Will be bookmarking this thread and will be very interested if this goes to production to fit the Lotus chassis. I'm designing my 6R4 around a lot of GT-spec Elise bits.
Too work!

Thanks for the comments guys Joe, I live less than 2 miles from Darrian and spent 3 years working there when I left school.Thats where I learnt my glassing and molding. I did start a degree at swansea doing the motorsport design, but after a few months I decided id had enough of being in a classroom and wanted to be hands on. Cheers I was on that course for a while, there's a chance I know you! Great work on both projects.

How does this construction technique work? Are you putting together a series of flat panels that have been cut from previously layed up GRP and will then class them together to make the final part? Or are you using this panels to create a buck from which you will take a mould? Either way this is totaly amazing.

Cheers for the comments guys,
What you see me making here is the buck, i will be making molds from it once I'm done refining it.

Hi all, Thanks for the comments guys, Lopez theres a chance we may have met? its a small world, but its ten years since I did that course! Well there was a chicken farmer from near Lampeter on the same course as me who did autograssing in a Mini - if that's you then yes I know you!
