Wow that works really well, i like that So it's actually an imported blitz conversion done on a RHD as a special order (it could happen) shame the company is no more and all all the records lost ;D BIVA aint going away just cos we don't talk about it! isnt it that head in sand attitude that lets the goverment roll in new curse word without us noticing? and exactly the opposite of what ACE are trying to acheive I'd hate for somone to veiw this thread then do the same only to be shocked when the first MOT comes round and they loose thier reg or worse, far better we openly talk about it and explore some loopholes i meen who knows that car (minus the pics on here) could well be one of those imports jobs Günther Artz lost the contract over, if there's no official info invent it and maybe you'll blind the "man" with pages of real looking waffle I meen opal were one of the few manufacturers to make 2 door estate after all (on the Mk1 and 2 astra), it can work! ask the VOSA man who stopped my 1972 P100 pick up truck a few years back ;D

...on a cheerier note - Nova estate looks frickin' awesome! Whose is that famous brown Nova saloon, the Retro Cars cover one? That kind of treatment with an estate conversion would rock a fat one. Hi there the brown one was indeed mine The estate is cool as too but could be improved with a few tweaks - colour, wheels, and a dam good beating with the stick

I'm just saying that it's becoming the norm that as soon as a car that's been chopped about in some way gets posted on the board, it's only a matter of time before the BIVA alarm goes off. The discussion always tends to sway towards 'ooh, you'll never be able to MOT that' rather than 'that looks good/I would have done this differently/whatever'.

That estate does look great but i feel it's a bit of a cop out spraying it matt black, Is the work that bad that he had to hide it under some aerosol black paint?

theres no doubt a nice shiny colour would have made it look better but then the work has been executed so well it almost doesnt matter. wish they'd actually made them now. would be a competitor for the escort mk3/4 estate

My appolgies i did not meen to twist any sentament i obv took it wronge Not sure if the nova would have compeated well against the escort wasn't it more a direct competitor with the fiesta ? either way a nice all over respray would be sweet, the level of workmanship desrves shiney paint to show it off i recon

The fact it is matt black actually denotes that the work is done to a high standard. The get a matt painted car to look 'straight' is actually more difficult than a shiny colour. (That is not my words, I am quoting a famous car painter on this very forum )

Polo Breadvan competitor then. My thoughts exactly, but the Nova that started this thread has much better proportions. Really can't fault it beyond what I'd personally change for my own taste, the conversion is a really, really nice one and could fool people all day long in a factory colour and has probably caught a few out as it stands.

There's another nice one linked in the build thread, though an Opel rather than a Vauxhall. it's essentially the same thing. I do prefer the boot treatment on the OP though.

That looks superb, as someone mentioned earlier, I'd like to see it in factory colour, just to pretend it was an escaped prototype!

"^ I actually lolled at the Vader post, we were all thinking it!"
Ok. It was me. I sent the thread off on a tangent. But I tried to bury it in the middle of admiration for the ingenuity of a budget modification. I've only noticed now that the trailing edge of the saloon bootlid has been incorporated into the hatchback to correspond with the saloon rear panel. A bit of thought went into that.

Love that, what a cracking idea. Reckon the op should have used a hatch lid like the one above though. Looks cleaner from the end. Cool find.

Works well. The same can be said for the polo saloon in mk2 shape. Theres been some photochops of the idea, And i think someone started the idea with a loon shell but never finished. Shame as rumour has it vw pitched the idea to karmann as a shooting brake style idea
