It's HotWire's department really but I don't think Proboards allows you to restrict picture size. I'll go and sort Akku's thread now though.

I've already bought tapatalk, and it's quite clear to see that the proboards app is exactly the same. Why couldn't they integrate it into the existing app? Oh wait. Squeeze the punters out of more. That's why I have the handy APK file.

I gather that this code should be in the source of the board not my computer, [bended knee mode] Please Mr Hotwire [/bended knee mode]
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- /* set max posted image size with click to enlarge by california */
var maxWidth=500; var maxHeight=300;
var img=document.getElementsByTagName("img"); for(i=0;i<img.length;i++){ if(img.alt.match(/\[image\]/i)){ img.onload=function(){ if(this.width>maxWidth){ this.style.height=""+(this.height*maxWidth/this.width)+"px"; this.style.width=""+maxWidth+"px"; this.style.cursor="pointer"; this.onclick=function(){ window.open(this.src,'imgwin',''); } } if(this.height>maxHeight){ this.style.width=""+(this.width*maxHeight/this.height)+"px"; this.style.height=""+maxHeight+"px"; this.onclick=function(){ window.open(this.src,'imgwin',''); } } } } } // --> </script>

For me, the issue is on my netbook not my phone. On my phone it resizes to fit on the screen quite well, but on my netbook, I end up having to scroll back & forth LOADS if the pic is bigger than 800 pixels wide. 1024 wide is 'bearable' but anything bigger than that becomes a real ballache.
I do 99% of my net surfing/posting from my netbook, so it does get frustrating when lots of large images start appearing.
Generally, if I post an image that's larger than 800 wide, I always re-host it making it 800 wide (my default setting on photobucket). Sure, it takes a bit longer than just hotlinking, but at least it means others won't get annoyed with me posting massive pics.
I think 800 wide was recommended somewhere as the max image size for the forum (I am sure it was Hotwire who made this suggestion?) but I can't find the comment anywhere now. I have stuck to this size since reading the comment a good few years ago.
I do hope something can be done to limit oversize pics because it does make using the forum much nicer if you don't have to scroll all the time. Emdee, that link/code looks great! Nice one. ;D

Exactly what Bruce said. I am also on a Netbook and it can get a little frustrating. Though the sheer size of one picture in the No Rhyme thread has made me laugh. I'd need 4 of these screens to get it all on.

I'm glad the netbook phase has died a death. They really are hateful little things. *I run my own IT business, and I'm right regardless of your own opinion

I have a regular PC with a 19" monitor set at a comfortable resolution. Big pictures are an on that. Anything which noticeably exceeds the resolution of the user screen is too big regardless of the device. I have an iPhone, a small factor laptop and a desktop FWIW.

I just felt they never knew what they wanted to be, and customers didn't really know what to do with them. Everyone tried to use them as little PC's but complained that they were slow. If someone came to me and said they had to have a netbook, they got a 12" Lenovo Atom/Nvidia Ion so atleast the screen was a good size and had some grunt.
