This is a gorgeous car and the fabrication skills are top notch. Surprised you don't like the steering wheel, I guess it's all down to individual taste though. I'd like to formally put my name down for first dibs if you decide to part ways with it.

This is interesting me as I'm looking into using one of these engines. What is the overall length of the engine and also what are the two stubs poking out at the back of the head in this pic?

Lovely work! Lovely car! Really looking forward to seeing you make progress ...
At first I couldn't decide why you wanted to go to the effort of grafting the Audi plenum onto the intake runners, but now it all makes sense.
The wheels look a little inny, would they rub with some small spacers to get the tyres closer to the arches?
Keep it up, mate, good work!

Lets hope we ALL get some time to get on with our projects! Looking forward to your seasonal update ;D You do have a few choices depending on power output / effort / availability etc 1. Manta A axle with LSD. Just need to find one! Benefits are its an easy known swap. Power capacity may be marginal depending on above. I know some Manta owners running 2.0XE power still use the original (wider) axle without grief! 2. 5-link something else with fabbed brackets, links and body boxes etc. Ford/Atlas (expensive). Volvo (availability? - re-drill hubs) Salsbury (Scimitar/Jag etc) (as above) Again, these have been done before so some parts are off-the-shelf. 3. Mount any of the above by another means such as those discussed in your other thread These will take a lot more time / effort and need more work on the shell. Good luck with your ponderings I have a scimitar se5 4ha axle now so i think my mind is made up. I'm just going to 5 link it. I have been at the auto sport show with work the last two days so i have some added enthusiasm to get on so hopefully some more progress should follow shortly (after i have sorted out the rest of the bits i have atm )

Evening all. Thought i would bring you up to speed with todays activities. As i mentioned i picked up this scimitar axle, its a very suitable width and will take a jag powerlok diff crispy I also gathered this Porsche 944 throttle body to see if it would be suitable for use on my manifold I then got side tracked by this corsa I'm breaking, tame you may think But what is hiding beneath?? I extracted this pedal and servo from the corsa for the Kadett With most of what i wanted to do with the corsa out of the way i turned my attention back to the axle. Got it on the stands And set about removing the unwanted bits as they are in the wrong place first i used the plasma cutter Then tidied it up using the grinder smoothed off on both sides and a quick DA And some acid etch primer while that axle was drying i moved on to the Kadett - engine removal time!! It looks like there is enough room in there to get in there with it Rad removed along with the dust bin style airfilter housing and some wiring More soon James

Glad this build is rocketing along dude. Darcy's Scimitar-Jag setup has served him well, so I'm assuming it'll be more than up to what you're using it for.

Thanks muchly Arkle. The Scimitar axle is a tried and tested option and is probably over kill for the power i want to begine with, however i would rather over engineer it and do it once instead of having to take a built car to bits again in the futur (if i can help it anyway). The axle is heavier than i want it to be and its a little more involved to attach it to the car (than the manta axle) but it is strong, parts are available, as is an jag LSD and its the right width so its just a case of weighing up the options.

Got on with the Kadett again tonight, small steps and all that It was the coldest the workshop had been for a little while (when I've actually been there anyway) I spent a while fiddling about undoing various nuts, bolts, wires, pipes and cables before i actually managed to get the trusted seat belt and engine crane connected to the engine. as so After some wrestling i achieved liberation of the engine and the gear box as well - i would have thought its been a while since the engine and box weren't attached to the car or each other. finally i disconnected the prop too so i can start to trial fit the new engine and box combo. It looks like a war zone under there lol Thanks for looking
