A little more mincing achieved on the rollover jig today Time to try and make the rear of the jig fit - started with this lot Trued this nylon up to make a couple of washers As so These should hopefully protect the body a little Then for the back side some aluminium washers Parted off To be continued.....

Evening, For those that have been following the whole story you wont be surprised to find that I've changed my mind again regarding engine choice. Hopefully now it will stay as it is though. I will let the pics do the talking: A few weeks ago this happened Resulting in this... Back at work i got the new motor out of the van and on to a pallet Stripped the auto box off And began to have a poke around removing bits as i went Manifolds off - so i can have some stainless flanges made... Torque converter and flywheel off - don't need that anymore Masses of wiring loom and birds nests removed Ordered an adapter plate and flywheel to suit a BMW gearbox similar to the pic below ( mine should arrive shortly) Tapped out the holes (M12x1.25) to clean the threads so i could mount the engine on the stand It now looks more like it will in the car without PAS pump and A/C compressor Flipped it over to remove the sump (as i thought the oil had already been drained as none came out of the drain bung when opened) to find this mess Maintained and serviced regardless of cost... Anyway despite how sludge filled it was i scooped that away and got on with finding then removing the baffle plate Dug around to find the sump bolts And removed the sump I then left the engine to 'drain' I have a local company making the flanges similar to the below pics in 10mm stainless if anyone's interested

niiiice ! Maintained and serviced regardless of cost... lol, it doesnt say maintained regularly, just means that when he got bored of the windscreen misting up, he got the pollen filter from toyota instead of a fram one from motorparts direct

Ive also acquired a BMW gearbox to mate to the 1UZ from the Lexus. Its the ZF version which apparently is the one to go for.

Now that I like the look of. I was going to ask what gearbox you were using, didn't realise you could buy the full adaptor kit for a BM box. Now the cobra replica I've found for sale with a tiny engine in looks even more appealing.....

It's been a good day for goodies here. I got the exhaust manifold flanges back today too. First was a thin test run to make sure they fit All was good so time to cut the 10mm version Now I need to decide on some pipe work options

Time for a clean up before I removed any more bits and trial for the new sump. Took the engine outside for a wash And proceed to pressure wash the sh!t out of it Better Gave it a good blow off and rotated it on the stand a few times to get all the water out Then covered it in wd40 You can at least see the crank now Now to loose the inlet It's a split two part jobbie Despite the wash and blow dry there was still half the farm in between the V Best get the Henry on the rest And have the starter off while I'm here lol

Wow- very cool thread. I don't know how I have missed this one but very glas I found it. Well written and great photos made me it through from start to finish.
Your efforts on the roll over jig are far neater than most. Its fun when you have the right tools to go that extra mile. What's your day time job? Engineer of some sort yeah?
How much was the UZ to bimmer box adaptor kit? There are locally made adaptors here in NZ to Supra boxes but the boxes themselves are so expensive.

Yeh I'm an engineer of some sort lol - turbos mainly The kit was 670 euros, it arrived today actually and I'm ver pleased - see pics. There are many kits available here too that fit supra boxes but the same problem with the cost of the box applies too.
