This folks : Is what PROPER rat LOOK is all about. Don't let anyone tell you different, scruffy on the outside, PERFECT underneath. While the car is cool and all that, I though rat was born out of people building hot rods out of faded/rusty nails rather than artificially creating the rust?

Totally agree, this faux rat look is just a bit desperate looking to me. Its just my opinion of course but this is absolutely not rat at all, its just a car with the paint rubbed off.
This is where a "real" rat starts from IMHO

i don't think this looks like a "forced" rat look, it just appears hes got it prepped for paint but not painted it, u can see filler/primer in places so i guess hes just not bothered to paint it yet.
it was my understandingthat rat look came about for guys driving their projects before they were totally finished, so sanded primer/filler fits in with that ethos
