It is an interesting conversion; I have always seen the Dolomite as a British precursor to the 3 Series so a really fast one "works" for me somehow. I'm glad you're keeping it standard looking and stealthy, besides the Sprint is such a good looking car stock it doesn't need anything else. I used to have an S13 the same colour as that. Marvellous car! It went really well so your Sprint will fly.

Glad you're finally getting around to it. Keep us posted, with lots of detailed pics (just in case someone else wants to follow your lead!) But Al, why would you want to do that when you have such a sweet engine in your car already? David Ha ha! One day, I may win the lottery, and tire of the sound of the 45's. Mmm., maybe not for a while yet

Looks like a great project, a British Racing Green Triumph, you can't go wrong And with that engine it will indeed fly. Bizarrely (great word ) there is a Dolomite in a collapsed garage just down the road from me that used to have an S13 parked outside, I always wondered what the old guy was up to! Sadly I think the guy must have died as the cars outside were dragged away and the Dolly is still sitting there looking very sorry for itself. Bit of Irrelevant info for you there Is yours on 5 spoke Revo's?

The RFX rims look amazing! Clearance issues? I've bought 15" alloy for mine and am pondering 165/50s for reasonable tuck.
Incidentally, don't forget a rear disc conversion is relatively straightforward. S&S Preparations used to do a kit, but you can make something up yourself using Rover Metro discs and Golf GTi calipers.

Cool idea- A great car and a great engine. Simple really. I miss the old Sprint that Hannah had. Fully worked with twin Webers for about 175BHP sitting very low on Spax with a decent cage. Was such a cool car. But the one thing that really always bugged me was how close the down pipe sat next to the bulkhead and how hot it got inside because of that. Plus very little room underneath for a decent exhaust plus a low low height. Hannah's old car now has a Redtop in it. I had driven it when you were selling it so when I heard about the engine swap I bought the Sprint engine and box and fitted them into an ex-race Dolomite Sprint I bought with no engine. Mine was completely stripped and too low. I fitted a single box exhaust with side exit, but I had to raise the ride height because the exhaust hit cat's eyes. I miss that car a lot. Ahhhh- were you one of the fellas who test drove it in near or in Wales? A redtop now eh? do you have any build thread links etc for it- I would love to see it again.

No, I drove it when you and Hannah came to a Dolomite Club Oxfordshire meet one month. There's some pictures of the redtop build here: forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1835Not sure if it ever got properly finished as the owner was heading off to Oz. The sprint engine and box ended up in this car: which I sold last year as I have moved to Canada. Need another project, but don't have anywhere to work right now. David P.S. James, sorry about the thread hijack!

Sorry, one last hijack! Is the car being discussed above the one that was featured in Triumph World about 12-13 years ago? Small world if it is, as it's the very same car that inspired my own Triumph build...

Have you seen the one in Australia that sports a similar conversion? Might be worth tracking the owner down on the Dolomite forum for hints and tips. That'd be me? Happy to offer any assitance if possible. I'd be very interested to see how you get on with the sump and rack clearances, I'm still pondering which way to go; Redtop, 4AGE or Ca18Det. Good luck with the project. not worried by the steering rack and couple its so out the way ! Sump on the ca goes the same way as the dolomite Sr would foul the brake servo the Ca is a smaller lump. No it doesn't (not with the S15 anyhow) but it is close!I have ecven fitted a bigger master cylinder (b44?) onto the Sprint booster. The heater box possibly will get in the way Could still fit this but looks better without. I have fitted an underdash heater. Cheers Baz
