Same idea but lower. quite like that one but it looks like it still has a lot more escort under it than mine ;D As stealthstylz said, box section chassis, cortina front end, narrowed capri rear on ladder bars, p6 rover v8 and 4 speed manual. Floors and both bulkheads are scratch made. (I MOT it for him). Needs lots of work to be fast but looks sooooo cool. does look good i have no plans to make mine that low though as its hard enough to get a jack under it now and my exhaust is already just 3/4" off the ground so cant go any lower and i need it to work as a race car which it does very well now

Drag racing rules stipulate minimum ground clearances, and this is just too low. (3" at the front falling to 2", 12" behind front tyre not including sump and exhaust. From memory) So this one is too low. My mate actually looked at your one and another Mk1 Escort race car a couple of years back with a view to expanding his collection further but couldn't quite raise the funds. Good luck with it.

sometimes things happen that make you wonder if life is put on a set path I was struggling to get the funds needed for a new crate motor and even second hand motors and next season was again looking bleek as far as racing was concerned then came a spot of luck joe (the owner of the grey mustang I painted earlier in the year)had a problem with the bonnet on his car which meant he needed a new one that he wanted me to paint so he arranged for the new bonnet to be delivered directly to me and the guy turned up with a mate these guys are hardcore mustang guys and general car nuts like most of us so pulling the escort out of the garage we got talking about it and the friend of the guy asked what motor it used to have in it when I told him 383 chevy he said oh I have one of those sat in my garage at home I'm using it as a broom holder (ford guy  ) so I asked if he was thinking of selling it to which he replied yes thats the only reason he got it and would much rather have ford parts on the shelf than chevy . I said really as it happens I have a load of ford parts for sale and would he fancy a deal the result of which is 2 happy car guys I now have an engine for the apple that was no use to him and he has an array of ford performance parts that were of no use to me I think the escort may need a different bonnet now though  ;D spec of the engine from what ive found so far is pretty good needing very little to make it top notch engine number comes up as a 4 bolt block strip down will confirm. it has dart iron eagle heads and forged pistons along with comp cams pushrods and guids and a set of roller rockers rest will be checked over the week but pretty sure it has a big cam and few other parts. I also ordered up a new pair of rear tires and the new colour scheme has been decided for the car

Good god! Look at the length of the inlet tracts on that manifold! There is absolutely no doubt as to what that engine is meant for. Going very very fast in a straight line down a 1/4 mile! Love the rocker covers, very hot-rod. What fuel will you be running this on? Pump fuel or will you be running octane boosters etc?

I run in the outlaw street racer series so cars should run how they do on the road so will be pump gas and full trim how its does on the road only power adder will be nitrous ;D

I have been trying to find it for a few years but no trace until recently when it turned up at Boxhill for the old ford day. I posted on rods n sods but no luck. Does anyone know the owner of E00238H as I would love to veiw the car again as it looks like it hasn't changed a bit. woz

Bloody hell! That looks like pretty rude. What kind of power do you reckon it'll put out? no idea really but the guy i got from was told it was dyno'd at over 500 we'll see what else it has inside when i strip it but its possible gotta make some adjustments to it to allow it the run my nitrous setup anyway . i know its well over carbed as checking the numbers out on the carbs has them as a pair of 600's so weather that was for a reason or weather it was just what was about at the time i won't know till its stripped but it will intimately decide weather the hi-rise will be staying long term or not

what a cracking car and engine combo thats gonna be! must say the intake and twin 600s would be a tad much on a street driven car, but you def know what your doing there! look forward to seeing it out next year, what times you hoping for??

well with the van nearly done its getting close to the time to make a start on the escort . it will be going up the workshop next saturday so ive been gathering parts for the new engine and measuring up and inspecting the parts that will be changed or need work . one of the big jobs will be changing the steering about a bit to see if I can get rid of the bump steer the car suffers from the front wheels also have quite a bit of camber which I hope to sort out a bit and give the car a little more lock by moving the wheels out a touch more as the steering has stops fitted to stop the wheels hitting the exhausts at the mo . another job I would like to do is to do something different with the gauges and dash pod as I think its just a touch messy ,its functional by but messy other bits that will be getting a general clean up and fresh coat of paint
