ok, cheers for the info - good to finally get hold of ppl wh oknow there beans. i have been researching further..... it seems a quadricycle must be under 550kg and produce no more than 15kw of power which is about 20bhp.... which leads me to ask... whats the standard output of the reliant engine (actually what cc is it too? i assume its a 4 pot?) and if you tune the car to 55 bhp then surely it becomes a car not a quadricycle thus negating the bility to use a B1?
sorry for all the questions but you set me thinking now.....

best ask on the forum... as i drive mine on my car licence... however i have not heard the 15kw law...
the engine is a all alloy 848 4pot, producing about 40hp, but stock exhaust manifold is always badly cast so restricts it heavily - people on the r3w forum will rant and rave about a 'yellow top' engine, this has a huge compression ratio and a differnt cam, giving it a abit more torque and lonly about 38hp... aparently they are the best thing since sliced bread.... i think they suck.
they can suffer head gaskets, but so long as the rad is a good one you shouldnt have any problems, the heater matrix holds alot of silt usually so its worth flushing it one when you get it...although a head gasket its a pretty easy job.

My dad did the head gasket in his brush painted Robin about 1400 times in the 3 years he had it, the beardy hat-wearing git. That adds up to a LOT of stripped threads I can tell you.

Hehe my dad had a Robin too! Much to my dismay as a teenager. We used to travel to Skegness in it. Quality. The head gasket was fine on his, but the old "roundabout / too few wheels" paradox saw it off in the end... he rebuilt it but it was never the same.
