Guten Abend! As time goes by..... Recently the Taunus let's me down again with electronic issues....   Did some testing and changed some parts...but:It doesn't work.  Changed the ECU for a spare one....but it's broken,too  So,this EFI stuff has to go!Back to carb and points!  Had a carb and manifold from a donor Granada 2,8....  Needs some love :)Throttle is rusted solid!  Today it started as the Express Van is in the paintshop!

Excellent write up on a really lovely looking car,
Have to agree with most of the previous comments, the "Mk 4 Cortina" was (personally) my least favourite of the series but in 2 door form is a really nice looking car,
Loving the work you've done on it and looking forward to seeing future updates on this thread,

Hi! Thanks for the kind words,much appreciated!  I like this car a lot...and i own it for now 21 years.... The 2.8 EFI goes like stink in this car,much fun to drive!The carb will maybe kill some horses...but not much. Also i found a longer geared axle at the german "Hecktrieb" forum...it's a rare 3,45 !At the moment the OEM 3,89 is on tap.... Had a look into the case....  gears look good!  Got some paint....ready for use!  The carb was in the ultra sonic bath....  Another spare carb,too.Will put together one from the best parts from both.
 Throttle shafts got some new bushings....  Greet |

Guten Morgen! Find time put together the carb-puzzle.... The cats are curious about what happens on the living room table....  Oscar!  A cold beer helps...  A very common problem is wear in the throttle segments....so i flipped one of the two...you can see the wear at the tooth on the left  Had to grind it a little so it fits well...  After setting it workes without play....perfect!And without new parts.  After some beers ...ready to go!  Greet |

Hi! Fitted the carb....  Made a bracket for the gas cable out of this:A old hinge from a bed....   After some cutting and drilling.....  Works fine! This will be the aircleaner....was on my bus years ago...!  Or maybe the OEM one?  If the Edelbrock is too noisy,maybe... Greet |

Guten Abend! Finished !!  Testdrive!..........was a desaster Very low performance and fire spitting out of the carb....much too lean.Cleaned the jets again,but there is maybe some dirt left... Have to remove the carb again and clean the emulsion tubes.....but the are not simple to get out of the carb body.You have to remove these 2 plugs....  But:rear axle is without any noise and runs sweet. More to follow... Greet |
