I tend to order three, then at least one should work Intermotor aren't great as mentioned, the Lucas green box ones are right in the middle of 'meh'. I haven't found a good brand yet that are reliable.

NOS Lucas on a red card. If you can find it.
I've not run Bosch stuff on my car (the only supplier is based in Germay and wants 16 euros for shipping...), but the Bosch-branded points and condenser that I fitted to BenNumbers' Fiesta were clearly of very good quality.

Yeah, the only ones they had were the intermotor ones curse word but worth a try. I think I'm prob going to order a few from the distributor doctor, his sound quite good.

Oddly enough, I got a new coil as a spare yesterday as well, it was on an intermotor part number, in a green lucas box with Bosch stickers on the actual coil! So god knows who built it?!?

Valeo. ;D If the intermotor condensor does the trick, I'd get a Bosch one as a replacement in case it fails again. Just found out that GSF have an ebay shop, and they stock one that could be bodged on: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380374304570

You will probably find that the one on the coil isn`t a condensor but a suppressor for the radio. Concentrate on the one inside the dissy cap, that`s the one to sort. It may be worth removing the one on the coil and trying again. If the symptoms are identical then I am sure it`s a radio suppressor, nothing more. But it's connected to the -ve (dizzy/ponts) side of the coil. If it were a radio supressor then it would be on the +ve side. Good shout, I saw it and just assumed. That`ll teach me not to look closely at it.

That's the problem these days. People say "avoid this or that brand" and probably end up with one that's come off the same production line packed in a differently branded box.

Well I've got two intermotor condensers and a mongrel coil, so soon as it stops peeing it down ill let you know how it goes! Unfortunately you have to be a gymnast to work on the coil in situ for any period of time so that's prob going to have to come out to swap the condenser Last week while repairing the gear linkage I fell in the engine bay....not pretty and supprisingly painful! lol

It sounds like the spark-eating gremlins are out in force retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=techni&action=display&thread=114434I've just had the a similar "where'd der spark go " sessions, great fun at 10pm on an unlit country lane Now have a set of bits sparking in the house, will be transferred to the car tomorrow in daylight Not finished yet but I'm thinking the aftermarket electronic ignition has died

Lol, I know what you mean, good luck with it man I've finally got mine working again! ;D And it wasn't the condenser!! Took the dizzy out (curse word pics, sorry :-P ) Turns out it's an electric auto-lite dizzy . Splash proof don't ya know ;D I think I might see the problem.... It's that dark in the engine bay and the dizzy is that far down the block that I never saw it with the dizzy fitted to the car The offending 60 year old wire. With the fabric insulation completely worn away. Anyway, so I did a full strip down and rewire (all 2 wires!) I didn't bother changing either condensers and it now runs sweet at a nut ;D and cured an intermittent miss fire, which must have been the wire occasionally touching the dizzy body. lol So thanks every one for your help, 10,000 internetz points to each of you

Man, that looks awesome! It's a shame you've got it running when winter is coming, but I guess it'll be around for another couple of years if it survived this long
