I'm a fairly "enthusiastic" driver...ie I drive fairly fast and don't mind giving the car the occasional "clearout of the cobwebs". Like a lot of here my cars aren't all immaculate....the F reg Estelle in particular looks fairly rough even though it's sound where it counts. Anyway...just being chatting with Will Carter about the "looks" we get from owners of newer cars....I overtook a Mondeo on the motorway in the Estelle doing an indicated 90...the look on the drivers face was a picture and afterwards I saw him in the mirror swerving about like he was in shock! It made me smile! ;D What reactions do you guys get on the road from newer car drivers?

Haha, the 'look'! The 'look' also includes going round a roundabout sideways with your door handles nearly touching the floor in a Skoda Favorit.

I do wonder what other drivers think when a tatty old Herald flys past in the outside lane (usually with a lone female occupant!) Best look I've got was going round a small roundabout in Ealing sideways in the Oxford on my way to work one cold morning. I wasn't going fast (like 15mph), its just a fun thing to do, as you know. There's a pedestrian crossing as you exit the roundabout and as I straightened up there's this pretty young lass crossing the road who I stopped for in plenty of time. She just looked at me with a brilliant "what are you trying to prove in that daft, flamed car" face. I counldn't keep a straight face! ;D Nothing to prove, just enjoying myself!

Black looks normally, especially from Ferrari drives that can't shake me off on the country lanes. Although I do admit I warped a disc during those antics...
The rest of the time it was fury, anger and general displeasure in their expensive new fast car being beaten good and squarely by a knackered looking 100E.

Heh... one majorly sideways antic turning right at a small roundabout, caught it, then it snapped again.... went even further sideways. After I saved this, and carried on my merry way a guy at the bus stop was clapping ;D

Nipped to Butts of Bawtry, Dad jumped in the drivers seat and merrily hammered the Mini in the outside lane of the motorway at about 90, chasing a 9000 griffin, I look round and see the person in the car to the left taking a pic with a camera up against the window Best reaction ever is a guy leaning out the window of his Golf to give me a thumbs up as I pass in the Rapid

Ive had a few good ones in the imp going sideways, but the best one was in the charade. i was popping along in the outside lane when a BMW came shooting up behind me with its lights on, it was an E30 325i. So i pulled over and let it by, and stamped on the hot pedal, 15 pounds of boost all at once and i was behind him again, we stayed like this untill an undisclosed speed and he pulled out of my way, a suprised look and a thumbs up and i dissapeard into the distance! Garys metro turbo used to get some funny looks too, the best one is the 'your gearbox is fuc*ed mate' look, the straight cuts made it sound like it was going in reverse all the time J

Its great to be in the rat MOT-dodge look, MR2. Overtaking a slow dude on a corner (loads of space and view in front) resulted in a mile of blinding full beam in my mirrors! Grrr Its great being out of the invisible Sapph, i don't feel like some teenagers dad anymore! There has been some good looks and bad ones so far, at the mo i don't care too much i'm enjoying driving it too much!

Worst 'look' I got was when I was doing indicated 95, top down in the Midget... A Volvo T5 (easily) caught me up, and the look the 4 uniformed coppers on board gave me just about made me sink into the footwell I was lucky that day - they must have been late for something as they disappeared as fast as they caught me (about warp 8.7 I reckon!)

In the capri I havent had any funny looks really yet, quite often see people on the opposide side glancing round having a look, quite often have people flashing their headlights at me, big with grins on their face. I don't usually look at peoples faces when i fly past them, so i don't know if they're curse word by getting over taken by on older car.

The best look we've had was towing a caravan chassis, still with half the caravan attached, down the M4 on a saturday morning. I could swear half the people on the motorway were thinking 'he's lost half his caravan!'. Infact we had just picked it up for free

quite often when i am riding around on my S50, guys on much bigger and much much faster bikes nod their heads at me. i like to think it is because they think the simson is a road burner, but in actual fact it is probably out of pity that they nod! when we used to drive around in the red rapid loads of people would stop and stare which never failed to make me smile ;D

I used to get the nod off 'propper bikers' when i had my stocker Honda H100S, which was great we are in it together , there are some who just ignore small bikes though, but these are probs teh same who give out expletives to me while i'm in the car, when they do 70 in a 30!

Tried driving the Bug with a pair of new shoes on last week, duely found out they were too chunky when my foot got caught between the brake and the throttle, not so much of a problem but it was chucking it down and I left a roundabout TOTALY sideways. Nature of the Bug seems to be: Get sideways, correct it, snap back, correct again, snap again, correct again, ad nauseum - All three directions of traffic came to a standstill, got the most evil looks ever and a milkman shouted "TOSSER" from his milk float I thought it were impressive anyway The best 'looks' have to be from the people that sit on your ass through a 30mph section of road and set themselves up to overtake you when the road goes in to a national limit, really love dropping it to third and leaving them on the other side of the road, the look is of shock, horror and disgust, with a little bit of anger tied in for good measure ;D

It's also stupid to sit on someones bumper looking for a chance to overtake through a built up area all the while getting annoyed with the person in front for not being an ass. I'm obviously not going to hold someone back from overtaking if there's something coming the other way, but on some of the roads around Dorset where there's visibility for ages, it's fair game IMO
