I am very reluctantly selling my pride and joy. Sob sob. The only reason for this sale is that I cant give this car the time it deserves. I have a new job and need to do a lot of driving so am buying a big old diesel VW or BMW. I only have a small drive and I wont have room for both cars and cant park her on the road (she deserves better!). If I leave her outside she will undoubtedly give in to the weather and rust and this is not fair for her.

I bought this car nearly 2 years ago off of a friend. She had just had a re-spray and was running the 2.8 out of the Capri but she decided to die on me
This was when it all changed!!
Work started on finding a new heart and it soon became obvious I wanted a big engine for fun! But on the other side of the argument I wanted better MPG than the 2.8 was getting (about 13mpg with the Webbers). I therefore decided on the later BOB Cosworth engine out of the ford Scorpio which is powerful yet can manage about 25-30 if driven kindly. It is also the more reliable of the cosworth engines. I intended to do the work myself but again circumstances changed and I had to pay someone to do it. Many of you on here may have heard of Steve Taylor (if not you should look him up) and he was the man to finish the job. So that is a little brief story about the car and here is what she has;
2.9 24v V6 from a 1996 Ford Scorpio with ECU (was on about 80k approximately when taken out of Scorpio, please bear in mind I was told this and have no paperwork to prove it)
New polyurethane bushes all round
New front GAZ adjustable shocks
New fuel lines
New Clutch
New Water Pump
New Bypass hose (this is a big job if you know about the 2.9 24v)
Second hand fuel pump (external, under tank)
She has;
2.3 Atlas rear axel
UJ drive shaft (don’t have the issue of the rubber donut exploding under the power)
Type 9 box (has a 5mm steal plate bolted to the top to strengthen it)
Unfortunately, the original brakes (still work but pretty rubbish with the power she has now, could do with vented Capri brakes)
Compomotive MS wheels which are 7” wide on the front and 8” on the back (looks cool, they stick out from the arches but haven’t been pulled in 2 years)
RallyGiant Fogs on front (not wired in)
Interior:
She is showing signs of wear considering she is now nearly 34 years old. The interior has never been replaced and the drivers seat is worn and the carpet in the drivers foot well is now about 1mm thick and has ripped in places. Apart from those parts though she is surprising well kept. The seats are very “spongey” but still comfortable and I feel its in pretty good shape for the year.
Exterior:
As stated at the start of the advert, she was re-sprayed about 2 years ago. It wasn’t a professional job, but was still to a good standard. Unfortunately because the car wasn’t taken back to metal everywhere she has started to rust in several places like the wheel arches, front wings near the lights and a few bobbles on the bottom of the doors. If this is sorted now, she would be in show car condition. The underside looks to be in good condition. I haven’t had a proper poke but she passed mot with no “welding” advisories. She also has two iron crosses on each front wing. All the chrome on the car is in good condition and comes up well under a polish.
She passed her MOT at the beginning of August and also has tax at the moment (6 months, till January) but I will need to SORN it now because of the rules as I’ve cancelled the insurance. Stupid government!
Now I want to be as honest as possible so there are some issues at the mo. The other day I was driving along and all of a sudden the electrics stopped working. Its not a fault with the engine install as the car still runs fine, starts, stops, fuel pump, main headlights and rear lights etc. What has stopped working are the brake lights, indicators, rev counter, fuel gauge, temp gauge, heater fan and cooling fan. I have been told it could be an ignition live failure. I cant find a broken fuse so an earth has either broken or a wire come loose somewhere. This could be an easy fix but I have no idea how to.

The only other thing I can think of is that the new clutch is very tight? Don’t know if that’s the word but you have to put the clutch all the way down to put it in gear. Its fine in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th but I can make a crunchy sound to get into reverse. I was told by Steve this will get better as it is a brand new clutch and needs wearing down slightly.
I have a few spare parts lying around, nothing bit but, spare water pump etc and a few other bits ‘n’ bobs that will come with the car. I have spent a lot on this car over the last year and appreciate I wont get it all back but need some for my new car. I am asking for £3,000 or the nearest offer. I will try to get the electrical issue fixed but cant promise that. Therefore I would advise a trailer as its unsafe to drive with no lights, especially the indicators!! If you want to come and see it I'm sure we can go up & down my close just to prove it moves!!
