Thanks to everyone involved in making this an enjoyable start to a wet and miserable Sunday. I've only got a couple of okish pics as my camera doesn't like being dropped on the floor apparently. As dawn was breaking. I had the pleasure of following Seth into town. Parked at Fort Dunlop. That's it. The rest of the photos were totally rubbish. I wonder which city will host the next Dawn Drive?

We were there today and witnessed the accident, it was awful and thoughts go out to Daves family.
Hadn't realised there was an RR contingent going although we did notice a few stickers.
RIP Dave

oh wibblepoo knew I recognised the name raced with the autospeed promoters. Didnt know him personally but had seen him race especially in the cornish caravan chaos a couple months ago. I can't imagine what his family and friends are feeling right now, my sincerest condolences go out to them thanks for the pics though.

Hi everyone.
Not exactly the kind of first post on here I wanted to make given yesterday's tragic events, but I would just like to thank all at Retro Rides for their support of the meeting yesterday.
I wasn't aware that there was an RR contingent attending, but it would have been good to see your vehicles on track during the half-time classic road car parade and it would have been a pleasure to have interviewed some of you on the microphone - of course, given the tragic accident, this did not happen.
R.I.P. David Weare - I will pass on all your condolences to his family, as I believe BrianDamaged has also done via Ovalchat.
Thanks again
Dave "Pieman" Goddard Commentator, Hednesford Hills Raceway.

Hi Dave, welcome to RR, shame it's not under happier circumstances.
I was at Hednesford yesterday with Brian and the RR contingent and was very shocked & saddened by the accident. My thoughts & best wishes are with Dave Weare's family and friends, and also with the other drivers involved for whom the incident must have been truly horrible. High praise must go to the meeting organisers & medical teams for their efforts and handling of the situation.
I also want to say that up until that point we were having a very enjoyable day looking at the cars in the pits and watching the racing - I hope this puts to bed any of the nonsense about RR being somehow 'anti' banger racing.

Looks like you guys had a good turn out and it looks like you had fun despite the unfortunate events else where. The question is when can we arrange the next one?

Nice pics as per usual, looks like a good meet was had and it should of been nicely rounded off by the pre 68. Such a crying shame for all involved, it's hard to take when someone goes before their time.
I'll say it again as I have on Oval Chat. My heart goes out to friends, family and all who had to witness the events yesterday.
RIP #78 David Weare

I've had a couple of days now to get my head round things. It's amazing what 48 hours' perspective can give you. Not many things can be said to be life-changing, but this WAS one of them*. Watch this space.
I'm glad those who attended on Sunday enjoyed it, and I hope it will lead to someone picking up the baton and organising one in THEIR locality. Just don't organise it for the last weekend in September 2012, as there WILL be another Birmingham Dawn Drive next year, with all the lessons learned from this one applied.
Thankyou to everyone who took part, either for the whole day or just part of it.
* Reading that back it sounds terribly dramatic. But believe me if you'd been there, you'd understand.

Pleased to hear you're feeling a bit better Brian, it's a terrible shame and horrible that anyone at all had to witness it, let alone the fact it happened in the first place. As I've said before, was an absolute pleasure to meet you all and see the cars I've been reading about in mags and online in person. Really looking forward to the next one

Thanks again to Brian for organising, and great to put some names to faces. Sorry if I didnt seem altogether with it when chatting with people, but having left at 1.30am and having done a massive road trip the previous two days meant my brain wasnt fully engaged.
Until the unfortunate incident at Hednesford I think its safe to say the whole day had gone pretty well. Everyone was enjoying themselves and it was good to meet some new people.
RIP David Weare

Thanks for organizing, what a great way to start a Sunday, great bunch of people and a really good atmosphere, until the dreadfully sad events at Hednesford.
Will keep the date for September next year free.
