Cannot believe it. I sold my Supra Turbo On Flea Bay,about three months ago. Stacks of bills-4 Brand new Bridgestone tyres-New disc's and pads all round £600-receipts for £900 for new head gasket and radiator. Put a brand new M.O.T. on it the day it was sold (Flew through with no recommendations) THEN the prick E-mails me today saying its a pile of curse word, that his "mechanic" has told him is unsafe to be on the road and I'm a Villain! Cheeky curse word,he paid £1200 for it in mint condition, told me how he likes doing "run what ya brung" at the Pod,then complains about the car. He came 'round my house after I picked the curse word up from the train station, drank my tea, then slags me off Has anyone else had this kind of b*ll*cks? The car in question-

We recently bought a car on ebay. When we turned up, it wasnt as described, but we bought it anyway as we were kinda stuck. We left positive, but stated it wasnt as described. He left NEGATIVE saying we spent 45mins checking out the car! WTF did he expect us to do, hand over the cash blind. Ebay wont remove it either.

i sold/swapped my GTE last week.... told the guy it needed about £400 worth of welding and other stuff - CV boot, balljoint, steering lock fitting. Even gave him the parts to complete it apart from the sills. He takes it up to get it booked into the garage where his mate works, brings it back 3 hours later whinging that it's gonna need loads of work that i hadn't told him about.... "the sills are totally shot you know". Apparently his mate had quoted him - go on, have a guess - £400!
So i ended up with it back, purely for the reason that he said it was a pile of curse word and would never get back on the road. it might take me a while but ha, i'll show him!

dazmax: That looked a damn good buy for £1200 What has probably happened is he's knackered it up at santa pod and is now tring to get you to pay for some damage he's done, a sort of 'emotional black mail' stunt.

What a muppet. Either he's knackered it (as Twincam says) or his "mechanic" is trying to rip him off. Sounds like the same curse word Mr_B had with his Starlet. WTF is wrong with people? This is why I pulled my Fez off the 'bay and sold privately - judging by the questions people were asking, it was clear they were expecting a concours motor for 99p!

I never leave feedback before the other guy leaves feedback for me, that way they know that if they neg you youll neg them back. Kinda like feedback blackmail. It works though!

I really dread selling cars, ebay has made it no better either. Sounds like a nuggat, cant say fairer than a minty looking car with propper full MOT, you are lucky if you get a perfect car that that old and barganious. I bet he thrashed it then his mech anic is trying to sting him. Mechanics do always expect to buy for trade/scrap prices and are flummaxed when actual cash is spent. Feel bad for ya mate, being friendly these days is a challenge!

I've tried to sell a couple of cars on ebay, and never again. Its bordering on almost as bad as Autotrader.
Bought a couple on there, and some people really are economic with the truth.

I hate selling cars too, thats why many of my old bangers have been weighed in rather than have a load of time wasters ring me up or come round and slag my car off.
There are some really great bargains to be had on ebay and I think most people are honest. The volvo 940 turbo I recently bought had some problems the seller failed to tell me about although he was some old dude so may not have noticed them....
I think there should be a clause on every car auction on ebay that if the car is sufficeintly not as described you can refuse to buy it. I.E if you go round and its a snotter you can refuse to buy it, maybe even claim travel expenses back from the seller?
Whats so bad with autotrader?

Was even on BBC Watchdog how bad ebay has become with regards to Vehicle side of things.

What is the main gripe with ebay then? Just the people using it or ebay itself?

The grip was with the many Nut-Tahs/loonies that are on the 'Vehicle sections' (Cars and Car Parts), the other sections seem generally okay.

Vehicles is generally inhabited by more numpties. And it seems inversely proportional to the car's value too.... sell someone what is clearly described as an absolute snotter and you can guarantee they'll umm and ahh and mess you about. Sell a mint car at full price and the buyer generally doesn't give two hoots if there is a 2mm trolley ding you failed to mention.
TBH, I've had very little grief with selling motors on ebay.... only had a couple of instances where they've no-showed and one tw*t peasant who came and rejected the car 'for making a funny noise' - it was the shroud on the water pump rattling, which i fixed in 1.1 seconds with a screwdriver in front of him. Wazzock.
Most of the time they turn up, cough up and go away happy.
This lad re. the Supra sounds like a PRIZE DICKHEAD! I assume that you gave him a reciept for his purchase, proudly proclaiming VEHICLE SOLD AS SEEN - NO WARRANTY GIVEN OR IMPLIED I always do this. Buyers are welcome to come and prod about and compare with the description. If they don't have a proper nose around, or ask for a test drive etc, then that's they own fault if they ain't happy later. They can EAT MY PANTS.
Suggest you email the guy back, offering him a nice steaming hot cup of STFU!!!!!

I find selling low value (i.e nearly scrap) cars attracts total plebs. I had a 1.3 avenger for sale in the local paper that was a rotten MOT failure but looked and went very well. I had that many gangs of 16 yr old kids turning up, moaning it had not MOT and offering me £20 for it that I crushed the thing as I was sure they would mow down some old granny with it or wrap it round a tree and kill themselves.

Oh, Watchdog, those idiots. Don;t get me started on them. Really.
eBay is fine, its the people you buy/sell to/from which are the problem.
But thats the same as the local paper or the autotrader. Iif a car wasn't as described I'd walk. Thing is who really buys a car without seeing it BEFORE bidding? C'mon... I could describe my Olds as being great condition for its age, just needs some tidying and paint but another person might think its ready for the scrap heap. Thats the problem, buying and selling anyting up to like 10 - 50 year old cars on a few photos and a description...
I had one I sold and the guy compained about some rot in the floor which I'd mentioned in the ad, so I took an offer and he went away. I only took the offer as I was desperate to sell the pile of cack.
The problem with autotrader is you get 16 year old yoofs ringing you up at midnight to ask stupid questions about the car and end up waiting in all weekend for people who say they'll be there in 20 minutes and never show, idiots who take a 20 mile test drive and then decide "i don;t really like the colour" WTF, its the same colour it was 2 hours ago? Or the prat who comes up takes a test drive makes and offer, I accept and then he says, erm, oh, didn;t think you'd take an offer, erm, I'm sure you'll get the full asking price..." WFT?
A mate of mine is a tiler and sold his old Astramax van through the paper with 3 months T&T for like £175. 2.5 months later the guy reappears threatening my mate because the van has failed its MOT and he'd been sold a dog, a death trap, etc. etc. There was pretty much going to be a fight on the doorstep. The bloke then plagued him with abusive late night phone calls and all sorts.
the world is full of time wasting a-holes and loonies.
I have had no problem selling or buying cars on eBay. I've sold far more than I've bought TBH if that makeas a difference. Either I'm just lucky or the people who have all the problems are doing somewthing wrong.
