Right, I'm having a bit of a dilemma here - on the one hand, I have a 1996 Lexus LS400 (MK3 - 260bhp on tap and a couple of hundred less kilos than the mk1/mk2) and it's *AWESOME*. And on the other hand, I could do with something with a bigger boot possibly a van/day van or something along those lines? Fuel economy doesn't really concern me, so long as it's in double figures, I'm happy, but that said if it is economical it won't put me off! lol
I bought it as I wanted something comfy and capable of taking the family of 5 of us down to France to a Eurocamp in comfort, and it did that job perfectly. Fully laden (with 3 kids bikes hung off the back) it averaged 26.5mpg, mostly hovering around the legal limit. Round the doors, it seems to be returning around 20mpg.
The Spec list is HUGE (as with any LS400 as it's all standard), I think I'd run out of space if I tried to put it all down here.
Since buying it, I've replaced the plugs and HT leads (with NGK Iridium plugs and NGK Leads) and the cambelt & coolant will be getting done next weekend which is a big job (10 to 15 hours apparently, and needs to be done every 90k or 6 years, whichever comes first). I've also given it a full service (the correct 5w30 oil/filter, air filter and the above items). It's got 178k miles, give or take, but as I'm still using it, it will creep up a little. It's also been washed, cut/polished and all the leather has been conditioned with Meguiars stuff.
It's got 4 good tyres on 18" BSA multispoked rims - I didn't like them at first, but they have grown on me now - all are shod in 245/45/18 tyres (all around 75% tread, Avon, Conti, Bridgestone and a Nexen IIRC)
The only bad bits are a small dab of rust just above the n/s top of the windscreen, that's been treated with kurust, waxoyl and then when waxing the car, I'm sure some of that went over the top too. There are a couple of other little bodywork marks too, nothing serious or sinister though and certainly nothing that detracts from the overall appearance.
EDIT: It's got a rubbish private plate. I insist everyone calls me Al when I'm driving it, and it must be referred to as 'Als' Kickass Grand Tourer' (A15 KGT). It was the best I could think of.... lol
EDIT 2: It's MOT'd 'til May 2012 and taxed until the end of November this year
So, what have you got to swap? I value it at around £1000 (give or take - there's always room for a haggle!) and won't be sorry if I end up keeping it, it's *that* good!
The last 2 pics are in my ownership, the others are from the original ebay ad!
