Been flatting down the horribly orange peeled clear today, nightmare stuff. Anyway got one side about done thanks to the help of a mate Steve. You can just about make out in this photo how the top of the rear wing has come up. Not brilliant but better than I'd thought. I gave the front wing a little bit of a go with some Farecla and it comes up OK, you can even see a reflection in it. Blimey. Shiny paint. There are many defects evident though. I'm going for a bit of a patina look I think rather than try and get it all shiny like a newly restored car. Might look OK.

You might be less worried about it in public if it's less than perfect. Think of that way!
Are you wet sanding that with 1200? Do you use a block for that or just folded w&d and bare hands?

Keep at it & don't give up! We want to see it at next years CARS I agree with Jonny though about it being too perfect - this is one of the reasons why i like my Amazon being scruffy....

tony - got plenty more waiting to be done. And this one still needs work when its painted.
I know what you mean about less than perfect cars being easier to live with day to day, but its a bit disheartening to put all that effort inana d end up with a scruffy car at the end of it though...
I'm wet sanding with 400, 600, 800, 1200. Its so bad it needs to go right back. Normally the rule I've always been told is never use anything lower than P1200 on clear, but its so bad the rules are out the window.
I'm using a block for the flat panels and just by hand on the curves. I should use a shaped block but we're past worrying about tramlining or anything now.

Starting to come together really nicely though! I know how you feel though, a kind of urge to just get it done right but hell, I think it looks great as is! Keep at it, all the same - it'll only age better the more work is fed into it now rather than later
