I must have an itch. Theres a fellow interested in trading his 2nd Gen Trans Am (in need of some work) for my 3rd gen Trans Am (in need of less work) so one of these... in that sort of blue, but scruffy... But its a "big block" car. And its a final edition special (last model to ever get the Pontiac motor before they all went with the less good 403 Olds) And although I keep saying I don't like that electronic curse word and all the pipes and such in the 3rd gen, I do love the shiny black paint and the reaction it gets. And its quick. But I think the 2nd gen is just more "me" Hmmm

No! The TransAm works, looks cool and is a fanny-mangnet. All of these are a Good Thing. You have enough broken cars. ;D

You have enough broken cars. ;D The man who brought a new project not 12 hours after returning from China speaks the truth Akku-San. The black one is epically awesome, it has an electronic boot limiter to prevent popping the T windows FFS! This is not the car you are looking for. Wait until the Cadillac has gone before you think of another motor... Rysz.

I'd swop, and worry about it afterwards.

Wait until the Cadillac has gone before you think of another motor... Print this quote out and stick it everywhere around your house. This shall be your new mantra.

Does that include the Saab I'm somehow bidding on eBay and the cheap Morris Minor as well?

2nd gen is a good car, but scruffy and out of MOT.
On the shopping run last night I was reminded that the 3rd gen does handle nice and is the only car I own which does...
Hmmm

Normally I'd say swap, but you do seem happy with your gen 3, plus you have got other projects and gen 2's, while not common, arnt massively rare. The chance of finding another gen 2 in a similar condition is reasonably high.
Get the caddy done and gone, then look at what's about.
But gen 2's do look fantastic! Have they really gone up in value that much?? I wouldn't have thought an un mot'd tatty gen 2 would be a viable swap for a good gen 3! I've never seen it in the tin but your TA looks near mint in the pics.

My TA has a few "Niggles" but is generally good. The paint looks good but has bits with orange peel and such. A good 2nd gen Trans Am is worth like £7K .
I'm not sure its worth what the guy wants for it. On one hand its a straight, non-rusty example, but on the other its been messed with a bit and needs TLC. Hard to value cars that need a bit of work.
