So I've been trying to get some miles on her and so far so good - besides the speedo cable snapping and the sump gasket leaking (going to replace the cork gasket with a rubber gasket during the next oil change...) But yeah generally a positive update - no overheating issues, thrust bearing is a bit noisy at times but hoping with some use it may get better!? Also got up to some 'fun stuff' Anyone got any oil recommendations? (currently using Halfords classic oil)

Normally I would be against them, but in this case I actually like the bonnet bulge. Seems to fit in with the theme of the project.

Valvoline vr1. A noticeable increase in oil pressure when hot, plus plenty of zinc to stop the cam disappearing.

That looks so mean. Don't normally look at B's but this one is perfect.

Who did the tyre banding and what did you specifically ask for and in hindsight would you have done them any different, thanks in advance, I am just reaching wheel stage, cheers.

Mr Speedy on here banded them for me, being totally honest I love the banded steels but they are not totally practical! As being so wide and 14" it's really hard to get a decent branded tyre in the right size and they are really heavy rims!! So if I start getting back into the track days I'll most likely end up with some 15" alloys of some sort....so I can get some decent track rubber on then....

So a week before the gathering I get hit by an MG T. The whole situation was ridiculous, A) It's a bright Orange 'B and he 'didn't see it'. B) There was not even space for his 'T - notice the wooden post between mine the fellow 'B owner. Damage is, Cracked front valence Cracked indicator lense Paintwork down to primer on wing edge and a crack on the top edge by the scuttle. Guy apologised but was more concerned about his 'kinked' rear wing - the nasty fibreglass crunch it made on mine I expected much worse... So now what do I do?! guy would prefer not to go down the insurance route - I could repair it all myself but I just don't have the time? and why should I lose a few weekends of my time fixing it? I have just notified my insurance on the hope they allow me to use a body shop of my choice? as I know of a decent body shop locally that I would trust to repair the damage.

Race cars have battle scars. Get a body shop to price it up, give the quote to the bloke who hit you, see if he wants to pay it or insurance... In the meantime, carry on driving the hell out of it!!

As above, get a quote from your Bodyshop, let the guy know and he then has 2 options.... but at least it's still drivable!
Lovely car btw

Was his seeing-eye dog drunk or something? I mean seriously, how can you not see something behind you in a TC? If what I see on the wheel arch by the bystanders knee is a kink in the arch, the TC repair is going to be more involved than the B.

Your correct, that was after we had straightened it out by hand aswell....
We have spoke tonight, I got a quote from a bodyshop for mine and it was around the £400 mark with me providing the paint. So we have agreed £300 cash to avoid insurance and I will repair it myself when time allows.
So all has been resolved in gentlemanly fashion with no hard feelings 😊
