That does look very cool, as for the wheels, my girls have found that you can actually just rub the chrome off them with your fingers, and only takes a couple of minutes. Found this today Maybe a future custom for you bmcnut? Good suggestion, but I'm already halfway through a vw at the moment, only needs wheels and details but I'm currently trying to get suitable rear wheel/axle combo for it. Ive not got anything lined up after that apart from simple repaints of carboot buys. I Need inspiring or ill just wait until 2 things turn up that look like theyll fit each other, it worked with the transit. I was thinking t'other day, with this 'youve ruined it' talk on that other thread, i wonder if anyone thinks ive ruined a vintage matchbox transit lol I bet someone somewhere does. If I do find something old, mint or rare (or a combination of all 3) which is suitable for chopping up, ill chop it up as long as it hasnt cost me too much.

Personally i think you'll struggle to beat that Transit, that really is top notch... When i get a moment i'm going to try and do some sort of re-paint on something or other. I might try and find a Majorette Talbot Alpine and paint it beige!

The only shame is, that the transit was (seemed?) in pretty good nick. But that´s not your fault. In the end it was built as a toy. And you played with it. But other than just ripping doors off or repaint it with a marker pen as kids do. When i was a kid i used to pull the windows out with a pair of pliers, paint them with anything including tipex, and stick plasticine in the wheels in a bid to make them look like bangers. Then when i was old enough to be left with the vice, they mostly got ruined. At least I'm creating something interesting now, or odd depending what it ends up like. As you said it was built as a toy, just like a real car is built to serve a purpose, but some people like to modify them to suit their own purpose. My dad used to be a keen modeller too, as well as being a keen banger racer who turned to car preservation in quite a big way. In some way its like a little bit of history repeating, as Shirley Bassey once said.

I've just found the Batmobile upside down by the side of the road. I've picked it up, but the roof is gone, and so is Batman and Robin... Hope they're ok! I wonder who it belongs to, its quite an old model to have been just dropped in the street by a child.

Ive never really looked at those old batmobiles before, quite cool that its got batman on the bottom of it. It could have come from anywhere, so keep it. Last week I mentioned that i wouldnt be shy of cutting up something old or rare. Id had an idea to do something for a while and wanted a rough one to cut up, but I couldnt find a rough one, just £20-£25 ones. Last week one popped up on a badly worded listing and i put a cheeky bid on it based on what id pay for a rough one. And won it. In its box. Doesnt look like its ever been opened. Out of its box. Doesnt look like its ever been out of its box. Really. Had to be done. Plan was to find a cab that was more to scale of the cars, wether it be matchbox or corgi or hotwheels, and 'hotwheels' it, giving it a repaint and 3 cars to match. Now, considering what i paid for it, id chop it up no problem, but the problem is its quite old, not particulaly rare, but mint, really rather mint. And I'm struggling to bring myself to do it! And if i did, what would i use that would look half convincing and to scale of the cars? Anyhow, nice story for you now. Nephew came round on saturday. I gave him one of the pickups out of the 5 pack. He took it in his hands, looked it all over, upside down, spun the wheels. 'nah don't want it fanks' 'yes you do, of course you do mate' 'no fanks, you have it' 'I don't want it mate, why don't you want it? 'its not hotwheels' 'yes it is' 'no its not, i don't NEED it' He leans forward to pickup another car and says. 'thats a hotwheels, ill have that.' 'no you wont thats mine. Have the pickup' 'no no no, it not howheels, it doesnt say it' he picks mine up and points to the little tiny hotwheels logo 'that one says it, look' He says So i pick up the one id offered him, looked all over and did manage to find a tiny tiny logo on it that hed missed. I encouraged him that it was a hotwheels and he took it with him. So, turns out he refused a really nice shiney bigwheeled toy pickup because he thought it wasnt a hotwheels. Hes only 3. And DEFINATLY my nephew.

Well, as it's in such nice condition i probably wouldn't chop it up personally. I take it that it's only the tractor unit you want to chop, the trailer will stay as it is? I might have a tractor unit you can modify if you like.

Yeah the tractor unit will get chopped, the trailer will get stripped and repainted. Thanks for the offer, but if one half gets it the other half might as well too, not like its the last one in existance, and authough its probably worth more than i paid for it, its not like its going to change my life lol. I think I'm going to 'ruin' it, but not until i find the right cab.

Reminds me much of that art work with a whole tower of old cars in concrete (wherever that was made? Does it still exist?). and me, this one in Paris (there seem to be a few versions), some desirable cars in there. I like this 'sculpture' as well, in the US

A few weeks back at a carboot I got.. Midnight otto and Ford Vicky A Hooligan, like this but knackered. And a boneshaker, again, like this but knackered. I now have A Hooligan with its plastic arches removed, body lowered, painted in satin kingfisher. Mabie should have changed the wheels. Ford Vicky. Casting cleaned up and painted satin black, sticky-out wheels replaced with bumpercar wheels which fitted really well. Midnight otto. Axles straightened. Simple repaint in red oxide and front of chassis cut off. Boneshaker. Smaller wheel set replacing oversize originals, Grafted on front end from mignight otto. Quite happy with this one. Since doing this ive realised there are two versions of the boneshaker, this one with the open roof and 5 window body, and another with closed roof and 3 window body. Useless infomation but mildy ineresting nontheless. They still need details to finnish, but at least they got paint on now, which in this weather seems to take about 2 minuites to dry. Since ive been buying the odd fantasy type car just for its wheels and axles, ive accumilated some bodies that are of no use to me, or so i thought until i stumbled across a picture of this and thought mabie i could try it with the boneshaker
