Heres the haul from todays carboot, there are a couple from yesterday but i was more bothered about the penny farthing yesterday. Some of them are really good and will go straight in my display case, some will simply get a repaint, and the kenworth will get some choppy-choppy sticky-sticky combined with something else like the VW shorty transporter. If theres anything i decide i don't want they will just get hacked about for parts or given to the nephew. Found some older ones too.

Not seeing anything I like lately, definetly nothing new bar a nice orange Datsun someone had hid right at the back. Is there any new releases due out soon? Saying that my collection ATM has been relegated to a bin bag in the cupboard, SWMBO says I have a problem

I only call it a problem when i go to my local stockist and cant find anything to buy. My ex didnt understand the fuss about 1/1 cars, (shockingly, she actualy prefered football?!?) so model cars was never going to happen. That problem has gone now.

The vw transporter isnt finnished yet as I'm waiting to find a set of matching axles with good chrome, or at least the right size wheels and ill make my own axles. Anyhoo, I tuuned my attention to part of the latest haul. I didnt take any before pictures, but it started out looking like this chevy pickup, but yellow and battered, and full of mud. take a dremel, a pot of paint stripper (the scratchcard one ) and a can of primer and satin laquer and you have this. Also added a round plastic thing to the rear bed and bleached the wheels to remove the rest of the chrome, straightened the axles and glued them back in, wheels still turn tho. Then add a knackered Matchbox Kenworth trailer and cut the back off it to get rid of the rear axle, add hotwheels axle and another chevy.

That looks good, must be fiddly working at that scale though.

Cheers, it can be fiddly, but its effectivly less work than doing something bigger. Masking up an N guage beetle was a fiddle that definatly wont be repeated. I was going to do more detail on the them, but i kind of prefer the less detail factory look, and if i tried to detail them id probably ruin them.

This works for me a lot better than your VW one, this just looks more... Right, if that makes sense? I was wonder where you've bobbed the back off the trailer, how have you tidied it up? Have you just glued some plastic across the back or something? I was also wondering, are 1/64 scale decals available for adding to your custom builds, and if they are, where would you get them from?

yeah just a piece of plasticard across the back with a 2mm strip across the top of it to hide the join. I have a variety of plasticard offcut sections left over from my dads OO railway modeling, which is handy. I might try and make up a light and number plate panel to finnish it off, but I'm happy with how it is. I had a quick look a couple of weeks back and theres some decals available over here but its british logos and wotnot, theres more hotwheels suited decals available from america, but I'm not willing to pay postage on them atm. I agree they do need decals on them, mainly to hide the fact that the doorshuts are full of paint lol, they tend to look better in darker colours for that reason too. I tend to agree with this one looking better than the VW, as much as I'm happy with the seamless join and paint finnish, and it has a nice matching beetle rod too, it looks good, just a bit odd. Horse box thing came to an abrupt end as i didnt realise it was still in the garage when i started spraying purple. oops. When mistakes like that happen i don't tend to try and save it, just junk it and move on to the next one. Next idea is for a kenworth 3 car trailer with a different cab, when i get one. ive got an orange mk1 transit pickup which might look ok, but it wouldnt exactly be correct. Now sure what else would work. For now, my next batch will be this little lot. The black one wont get touched, the strange looking one will get butched for parts, and the others will get painted a variety of rod type colours, one might even get polished. I actualy quite like the look of them in there bare state.

Looks like you've got a nice selection of rod bodies, I quite like Fangula, puts me in mind of some of the creations made by Ed Roth and the likes in the sixties. I like Hooligan too, infact when that came out i liked it so much i built a full scale one to drive lol.

bmcnut, pm me your adress and I will send you some scale decals I will not be using ever. Bought some from the states and also from germany long time ago, used only a few and will keep some, most of them sponsor decals, but you might be able to use some of them. Ever so epic sir! Thanks!
