LOL, seems what I think varies a LOT from many folks on here...
Seem to remember a similar reaction when I posted pics of Bex's mini.
However, at CaRS it got a fairly good reception.
I can see where you are all coming from, but personally, I like that.
I wouldn't want to OWN it, but I'm glad someone has done it

The wheels just look slung on, plus illeagal as i understand it. Not a fan really. A a stunt at a show, for a laugh, horses! Offset-donk type affair I dunno!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Don't get me wrong, I like it, which I why I sat taking pics of yours while you wanted to get past at CaRS BUT, it's not usually what I go for, that's all. Believe me, I'm far from blinkered, I love all cars, even more modern stuff, BUT I tend to only "go for" certain types Only joking my friend, There's no way I would consider 99% of people on here to be in any way blinkered and I know you certainly arn't, maybe it's me that's blinkered? ;D Regards the Derby? looks a like a sideways donk.... "Hey, big wheels are cool...how big can I go?" "Hey, wide wheels are cool... how wide can I go?" just gone that little bit too far for my tastes without some sort of fender flare, but if it's just for laughs who am I to judge? after all I "get" boozo

I don't really think wheel bearings, and legal points are an issue here are they? I think like MWF said it is a little attention grabbing to be honest, but that's pretty much what any modified car is to a certain extent. The execution could be better too... Offset/inset/slam etc. Proportionally it just doesn't work. I wouldn't, but thankfully there's people that would.

I like the fact the the blokes gone out and done something silly and extreme, but in reality I suspect the wheels were for something else but the adapters fitted the Derby so on they went!
Aside from the standard ride height issue, this isn't too far from the look the mini truck/lowrider/sport compact scene had a few years ago in the states.

I don't have any to hand...Will try and find some though.
Regarding wheel protrusion in the land of guinness - is it legal? Over here the tread of the tyre must be covered at it's highest point.

I love Derbys, wires, rollerskate styled cars, rattyness etc etc. But that just looks silly IMO.

Do I like it? Negatory dude.
The wheels look slung on (which I suspect was the case). I'm sure it's someone just having a lark before doing something proper to the car. Hope so anyway.

Aside from the standard ride height issue, this isn't too far from the look the mini truck/lowrider/sport compact scene had a few years ago in the states. Its about a million miles away from the lowrider/minitruck scene! Yes, there were a few 'skate' cars, mainly Japanese, but the style was much better than this, only usually in 13 and 14inch rims...

I don't like it personally. It COULD work with wheels offset like that if they weren't wires and if they were tucked into some bubble arches or whatever you put on a Golf. Those 45 degree things like Slater has got on his Mini

It's in the land of milk and honey (guinness and short people in green clothes) - does anyone know what the requirements are over there with regards to wheel protrusion? Anyway, the right MOT tester will ticket a Lawnmower if you give them a couple of beers... *n

I know that fenders (in the hot rod sense) are not actually an MOT requirement. Its a "Construction and Use" issue which means that police are well within their rights to pull you over and make you get the car towed from wherever you are.
