Some of these are on the verge of "its a TV show which happened to have a car in occasionally" rather than car as the star I fear. Careful, we'll be saying "Royal Wedding because Princess Di had a nice Metro" or somesuch LOL. Cats Eyes was ace. I'd buy that DVD box set but its caught up in rights problems so won't be rereleased

Oh and... I didn't mention Knight Rider because despite the Trans Am featuring highly in the show it put me off owning one rather than making me want one. Made them seem, well, a bit gay to be honest. "oh Michael, you are awful" yeah? Rather than burley rough macho like Bandit or Rockford.

how about a 1965 red and black Mustang like in: Awesome childhood viewing Stinger I loved Pole Position and M.A.S.K; I had/might still have the Stinger somewhere, and the bike that turned into a helicopter. The lad over the road had the black Corvette where the front end turned over and the doors opened downwards to make wings. Always thought that was pretty cool. Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors was also a big favourite: EDIT: Everything I watched in the late '80s and early '90s was just an advert for Mattel really wasn't it

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Very surprised Transformers hasn't had a mention yet?!?!?! Jazz (Porsche flatnose) Hotrod (and Rodimus Prime) Prowl (Datsun Z) etc etc

whats the prob re cats eyes??? As it was explained to me by a mate who has some good inside contacts in telly stuff... The company who made Cats Eyes (and a few other classic detective series like Shoestring and maybe The Chinese Detective, The Gentle Touch, etc.) went bust. The remains of the company were bought by Tri-Star who were in turn bought by Columbia and sold to Sony. I may have gotten some names mixed up here. But I'm sure it ended up with Sony. Along the way, people who were owed money were promised stuff in return for not getting the cash. Several people appear to have been promised the distribution rights/royalties/whatever from the TV shows made by the original TV production company. It is now almost impossible to tell who actually owns the rights to these shows. Any attempt to get them to DVD would involve so many zillions of pounds of IP Lawyers' fees that it would be commercially non-viable, hence the problem with them ever seeing the light of day again either as DVDs or repeats on cable.

When we had our first kid, naturally I was going to get him a Scalextric set at some point. And just as naturally, I played with it myself... With memories of all the TV shows I watched as a kid, I thought I'd build a car that would run on a Scalextric track, but be more like a '70s car chase. So I made this, with steering and suspension for maximum rolls in corners Naturally it’s based on the finest TV police car ever made – the 1977 Dodge Monaco. I gave this one Hazzard County Sheriff decals too, but these were everywhere in TV shows I watched as a kid. Driving it on the track is epic, you hardly watch the bodyshell at all, just the wheels and how much gap you can get between wheel and wheelarch

Anyone remember this? I was only seven when it was on, but I remember throwing a strop once when I had to go to a Berni Inn when I could have been watching cars on telly. I've subsequently been told, in no uncertain terms, that it was appalling.

Aparently when they were showing it on Granada Plus in the late 90's (when i started watching it) they were pulling around 1million viewers per episode!
