big american v8s can spoil the handling, especially in the lighter mk1. If you can wring enough ponies out of the zetec then it should still be a lot of fun!

WWell I already had the rubbers and well I wanted to do something different to a piece of tube that was offset from the mount centre. coming together nicely - one question where did the rubbers originate from?

Looks good, I like the nice clean look to the front end with the hidden indicators :-) I can't decide whether it is a smiley face or an angry face, I think once the bonnet is on it will definitely be the latter but I like to think the Capri is happy to be making such good progress and so is presently smiling :-) You already have a lower air dam ready to go don't you? That will definitely make it look more aggressive... See it currently makes me think it's got an unimpressed type face but haven't built everything on yet so shure it'll change, especially when I get the air damn on like you say.

But if you're struggling I did find another source when replacing the mounts on the Chevette as the Ford ones were a bit big diameter - let me know if they don't work for you and I'll see if I can dig the info out. Have a strange feeling I got them from a narrowboat specialist so could be quite fitting for a boat anchor!

Wow now that is a boat anchor! They might be up to it, but have you thought about something like the escort world cup X-member mounting, or even chassis mounting? It gives you a lot more rubber stiffness choice so you can get a nicely tuned rate. As for RRG - that's the basic plan, so we shall see. Have booked the week before off so should have enough time to get it running and MOT'd If it is there I'll be aiming for a run up the hill, but without ending up on the roof this time hopefully!

At this point it'll be a case of how much time there is between getting an MOT and RRG - so it might be no paint at all! Mostly likely it'll have some red oxide primer splashed about a bit, it ain't going to be pretty put it that way!

Could spray a big WIP on the bonnet. :-)
I think it will look rough and ready, should give an aggressive look.
I guess the important thing is to not paint anything on which could course problems when it comes time for the really paint job.

Yeh, not sure the paint that's on it will be happy to be over painted sadly. Anyway, just under a month to get it together, MOT'd and to RRG - easy!...... Last night I finished up the cooling system, just needs filling now, and I set to tidying the doors up. Now the doors had been 'lightened' by a previous owner, but lets just say they looked like they'd be set at by a blind man with an angle grinder! So here's a standard capri door inner - And here's mine with added lightness - Just needs a poly-carbonate window and some edging trim to finish off the sharp edges. I probably won't have gone this far if I'd have started with a complete door, but I had to take it back this far to tidy them up the hacking about was that bad! Given all the window mech and noise pads are gone as well i recon this is getting on for a 5kg weight save per door, which isn't too shabby. Other than that I've started mounting up the wings so I can figure out the front air damn. Should get that done sometime next week and the exhaust parts and harnesses are in the post. Not long now

I've got to agree about race car interiors - so fast to put together (and pull out ) Lots of really good progress looking forward to seeing this at the gathering

So besides lots of tarting up, the body is done. I'm not totally happy with the intergration of the centre part of the front splitter grill and the valance, but still pretty happy with the way it looks. The extra grill area aims underneath the rad unfortunately, so a few bits of metal added to the air dam mounts later I had a deflector. Hopefully should have more than good enough cooling now. Oh and I hate brakes! Was having a right with the rear brakes, turns out the not very old master cylinder had a blockage between the two sides of the piston - no wonder it wouldn't bleed. New one has turned up though so should be all sorted by tomorrow evening. Bring on the wiring!

Looking awesome! The shape you've created around the headlights by adjusting the bonnet reminds me of a Mk1 Escort. Works really well! This is one of the cars I'm most excited to see at the Gathering.
