Thanks Stevie. Me too. It's taking a lot longer than expected.
Maybachman. Rollering was a cheap test. It didn't cost much and and I was curious. If it hadn't worked I could still have rubbed it back and sent it for a spray-job. Truth is I like doing as much as possible to my car myself. Then it is MY car.

I've been fitting more of the loom. Fitting a loom from one car into another car for which it wasn't designed requires a bit of thought if you want to do it tidily The Omega loom has a couple of multi-plugs in the left footwell. As it happens, the Scimitar has a hole in the same place. Usually the blower motor sits there, but I'm not using it. Bingo. But I needed to make a box to fit the plugs onto. What to use as a mould??? IDEA! So this means I can tuck this away and put a trim piece over it later. I've now run the most of the rest of the loom into the car. That'll let me connect it up loosely to see what life is in the car. That's the general direction I'm heading in, but still have a few things to do before I can thinking of sending some electrons around. I've also bodged up the first pieces of radiator ducting.

I try not to pop on without an update, as folks might check in for a progress report, and just see me offering thanks but...
Thanks Anglia-dude. It's not a patch on your gel-coated grill. I've not had a successful go with female moulds and gel-coat yet.
Cheers, Stevie. I appreciate your constant enthusiasm.
For an update, of sorts, I went to Pirtek and got a hose made up for the hydraulic clutch this week. The gearbox had to come out again to measure up for it. I know it seems the wrong way around, but the drive-train went in with the body off, so at the time I didn't know what my plan would be with the clutch pedal and master cylinder. Luckily the gearbox is reasonably light and I got it out from underneath quite easily. Getting the hose onto the gearbox and putting the gearbox back in is the main aim this weekend.

rolling chassis is a work of art and with the same attention to detail going into the body it'll be awesome. Looking forward to an update
[is this the same omega-scimitar that graced PPC £999 challenge in 2009? if so it's a shame they flunked the timing results for the sprint as i will never know if my car was quicker than yours!]

Thanks for checking up on me, chaps. Major indoor DIY distracted me these past months. Work on the car resumes very shortly.
The PPC challenge car belongs to another RR'er (Burtle?), and has inspired mine and a few other Scimitar conversions.

Ye gads. An Update! The chopped Omega loom is in the car, but in need of tidying. However, some electrons are zipping around now. Omega manifolds exit towards the back of the engine, which is no good in this car. The trick is to use a pair of rear manifolds from the V6 as found in FWD Vauxhalls. I've fallen out with my old welder, so bought a new one on Friday. Piece-of-cake knocking up the downpipes.

I've sloshed some petrol into the tank, and tried firing her up. Well it wasn't going to be that easy, was it? Cranking. Check. Sparking. Check. Actually this really pleases me after all the loom-stripping. Fuel : no. For 2 reasons. I've dropped the tank out and found the Omega fuel pump is not working. Also, I'm only getting a supply to the pump if I bypass the fuel pump relay. I wonder is there some fail-safe system triggered by the various warnings on the Omega information display? It's complaining about Coolant level, auto transmission, and more. The next step is to get a replacement pump and give it another shot with some direct feed to the pump. And for a little pictorial progress, I got Dee's Exhausts to tickle up some flared ends to complete the downpipes. I'm waiting for gaskets to arrive so I can nail these on.
