	Well its been quite a while since the original post! In the mean time the head gasket has been changed and one cam shaft replaced, the removed one had totally rounded lobes due to the oil feed pipe over the shaft being blocked.

	There were several more issues to contend with mechanically but I thought id sort the rust first. Saving up has taken a long time but eventually I got it together and its been at the welders for about a month. In the mean time the salty sea air where I live had taken its toll and the rust had crept over the car like some unmentionable skin disease. Anyway I'm very happy with the job that Shaun has done with the welding, this guy really seems to care about what he does, a rare trait these days. Here's some pics New sill panels- £350 a pair. 	All four doors had rot, I managed to get 3 better ones that only needed minor repairs but the one that eluded me (N/S/F) was actually the worst one on the car, it was bad!! But, to his credit, Shaun took up the challenge and did the necessary. looks spot on now.Heres some more pics- Both rear wheel arches looked a little bubbly, this was what was underneath! I bought 2 repair panels for each side cos Shaun wanted to use the extra ones as part of the inner wheel arch to get a neat join. Can you guess what this is?? Answer in next post...

	More pics- Well I'm pleased with that little lot, I have some prep to do and then it will be off for paint. I have a lockup to keep it in now so hopefully the rust will stay away in future although I will be filling it with Waxoyl once its finished! F.Y.I Shauns business is called 'Dr V Dub' based in sunny Southsea, he does mostly VW campers and beetles but likes something different now and again. The next instalment shouldn't be as long a wait as last time...

	Wow.... that mman deserves a beer! Bookmarked this page. My old man had the 280se six cylinder with the stacked headlights. I loved that car. Tried to see if you have the air suspension but could not tell, did that only come with the bigger v8?

Air suspension only came on the W109 (LWB version of the W108). Most W108s had a hydraulic compensator above the rear diff to raise/lower ride height according to load. Nice to see this getting so much love and attention. They sure seem to rot but I definitely think putting money into one is a wise move, the prices of these are really starting to climb. One of the all time classic designs IMHO. I can't wait to see more progress on this. Good work Dude.
